"Have you ever loved something but didn't have the chance to fully enjoy it?" Oh yes. Horseback riding. I'm seriously allergic to horses, but love them anyway. I had several chances to work at a stable in exchange for riding lessons and became so ill trying I had to bow out. What little I did get to do was pure magic.

As someone whose entire career is based around endeavors of logic I fell into this trap for many years. Eventually I embraced a mindset of "enjoy it for what it is, don't hate it for what it isn't" and life became a lot more enjoyable. Now I have binders full of cards that never see game play but I do get to flip through them and enjoy them in other ways. Great art or a sense of nostalgia or whatever reason I got any particular card for. Just because its a game doesn't mean the only way you're allowed to enjoy it is playing the game.

This is my thing I collect Pokémon cards and I love them. I have folders full of them. They’re stunning. Some of those are absolutely stunning. Magic the gathering just brings back quite a lot of negativity for me. It’s really strange. It’s a really weird mindset that I don’t truly understand.

The human mind can be an amazing thing. It can also be incredibly confusing even to itself. Luckily for us, TCGs are entirely optional and we get to pick how we engage with them. I personally have never had any interactions with pokemon but from what I see of the pokemon community as a relative outsider it does seem to be more welcoming/accepting than magic has been in a long time. I'm pretty new to your channel so forgive me if you've covered this time and again, but do you have a relatively active physical pokemon community in your city?

Honestly, my experiences in the past really nice people but we don’t really have anything like that in my town the nearest game store is a good hours. Drive away on a good day.

I have an LGS about 10 minutes away but they are big into RPGs which really aren't my thing. Sometimes I wish there weren't so many different games out there.

@@jcbeck84 the nearest one to me which is the driveaway is predominantly focused on magic the gathering and Dungeons & Dragons that’s kind of it
