This isn't a reveal, this is loose speculation. Really good magicians, it would be incredibly hard for people to figure out how they did it, especially when they work with a team. The only solid glitch was he put the card on diagonal, and when he took his hand away it was perfectly vertical. As well as the orangutan was able to pick it off the glass with just a fingernail, it seemed.

Notice he puts the card on the glass diagonal and when he takes his hand away it is vertical on the other side. This is definitely an edit. I think they layered two takes together. One take with the Orangutan on the inside and one take without the orangutan on the inside, where he puts the card on the exterior of the glass.

My most favourite moment of this video is 11:39 when the magician's handprint on the glass *magically* disappears right when the orangutan raises its hand, and the glass is oh-so-suddenly squeaky clean :)

At the same time, have you ever put your hand to a pane of glass and the glass steams up, and as soon as your hand is removed the steam is gone. This seems to be what is happening.

If you look above, people can walk there and there are holes. I think he had the second card on a string which would someone lower to the position where he had his hands. They lowered it just around the time he put his hands away, so for a little time there was no card after he had his hands away and then the orangutan saw the card and snapped the string when taking it right after he saw it. His original card went into his sleeve with a some magician mechanism. All that was done in edit was removing the card being lowered and also making the card appaer in the lowered spot right after he took his hands away.

I FOUND IT!!! 0:52 At the left of the orangutan elbow a piece of hay just APPEARS! Also at 0:24 you can see what appears to be a stainless steel cart with drawers and a handlebar or a stack of travel/air plane reinforced boxes piled onto of each other with the stainless steel edges? There in the reflection on the Orangutan from the beginning til he moves and blocks the reflection. Might help in determining the real setting?

1st interpretation : Man and orangutan filmed at separate times. If they put a green screen along the glass on the inside of the cage, then I think they can isolate the reflection of the whole man-to-cage action. At one moment they put the card in the cage, they let the ourangutan in, they film it interacting with the card. And on a seperate moment (before or after), with a green screen on the inside of the glass, they record the man interacting with the glass (doing his trick). In editing, they just overlay the reflection picked up with the green screen on top of already existing reflection of the orangutan footage. They just have to remove the card existing in the orangutan footage to the point where it is covered by the man's hands. Right after the man puts both hands on the card on the glass, he lifts them for a second, I think maybe he lets the card drop at that moment, and that was edited out. 2nd interpretation : man + orangutan filmed at the same time. There's a moment after having laid his hands on the glass over the card when the man removes his hands and the orangutan seems to be following something falling with its eyes (head tilts down). Which makes me think that it's possible that the card was inside the cage all along, they let the orangutan in, it thinks the card is on the outside to begin with, then the man does the trick in front of it, and it sees the card fall (edited out) or palmed, but one card is still on the glass even after the man has removed his hands, so then it has the idea that maybe the card is on the inside, and checks with the wooden stick, removes it, smells the glue, and then tries to put it back to make it stick again, but on the wrong side, so it falls. Pro for the 2nd interpretation : the orangutan breathes on the glass and leaves a patch of water condensation on the glass that stays throughout the scene, this patch correctly interacts with the light obstruction from the man's body, I am unsure, but I think it is quite complicated to completely make up that interaction without it looking fake (which would be required if the two events were filmed at different times (1st interpretation)), because glass is only transmiting the light coming from the inside of the cage (transparency) and reflecting the light coming from the outside (reflection) (green screen would allow easy filtering of transmitted rays), whereas a patch of condensed water has its own diffuse shader (using material shading terminology here). Pro for the 1st interpretation : I am not sure if the man looks exactly at the orangutan throughout the scene. Problem for both interpretations : they would have to remove the already existing card on all the frames before the man lays his hands on the glass, and I checked, there's even a moment where part of the orangutan's head should have been obstructed by the already existing card (that would have been pretty hard to reconstruct) I didn't get what were the "tells" that you mentionned at 8:22 and at 10:00 exactly. (now that I think of it, maybe they don't even need a green screen) I get the feeling that there is an even simpler explanation that I am missing here

That interaction with the glue explaining the Orangutan's genuine behavior is helps a lot. That trick convinces us (the viewer) that what the Orangutan saw is the same as what we saw. But it wasn't. Good way of describing it.

If you zoom right in on the card in the window You can see the card that is inspected by the gorilla , cough, I meant orangutan , you can see a thick darker outline where the photoshop cut hasnt been done properly. ( there should be no black outline at all).

I think the card was there the whole time but was photoshopped out until it was supposed to be on the other side of the glass. The _Orangutan_ was uninterested in it and only played with it after the magician drew its attention to it by bringing another card up to the glass which he then palmed. At that point the _orangutan_ pays more attention to the card that has been there the whole time and casually inspects it.

I'm pretty sure the "orangutan" is a guy in a suit cause the reaction is just too perfect and having a real animal would make everything a lot more complicated, you know like you spend hours planning your magic trick and suddenly the orangutan realize he just wants to sleep or something.

They filmed this all in one go, nothing was film separate. The card was lowered down on a thin string from above, the lowering process was simply then painted out.

The card is in a completely different position when he let's go (upside down even). The "reflection" is obviously behind the orangutan but the glass is in front of orangutan so reflection should be in front. The empty cage was shot with the tree in the back blowing. That's why it's windy at those points but not in the beginning.

when he puts the card against the glass it is at an angle but when the orangutan touches the card it is up right and puts it back against the glass at the same angle the man pushed the card. I dont think its two separate scenes over each other. But is could just be the card edited in post. Nice trick

Another weird thing is where he holds the card on the glass there is a slightly darker rectangle. Maybe there's a gap and this overlaps and he can slide card between the layers, he moves his hand back and forth a bit after placing on gkass

Weird jump in hair movement on the Orangutan's hand/wrists after he pulls the card of the window. The hand movement also looks a little inconsistent. As a matter of fact the whole body shifts a slight bit. At the same moment you can see a jump/lighting change near the mans cheeks.

I believe the orangutan is CGI as well as the background trees, if you look closely, the brown hair looks too plastic, i also think this was a very expensive production done by either ILM or WETA studio. The entire set was probably filmed on a sound stage...

At 7:41 you claim that some "stick" is not visible when his reflection covers it. All sticks or plants that I can see there are a reflection (Behind the man. It's probably the same plant as the moving leaves you mentioned earlier in the video). These plants are not in the cage - Thus as soon as he moves his body over it, they are not visible.

It's more than likely one take they split and swapped around. The orangutan had a card first then dropped it, then the guy pulls out a new car and places it on the glass. Cut flip and edit together and it looks like magic.

The illusions would have been better if not for the Heart he palms is sideways upright & the other one inside the glass the heart is upside down & straight up parallel so they didn't align that Correctly showing 2 cards instead of 1 card. I still like the trick though it was enjoyable to watch.

I believe its all one take the card is already on the inside and masked post production. The biggest give away in my opinion is the fact the card ends up in a completely different position, notice how he places it at an angle and when he lifts his hands its moved to the performers right an inch or two almost as though he wouldn't have even covered it up and it is no longer at an angle.

I think your mostly right, but here are some more clues and mistakes; First, the card is visible (already in the glass) and is the ace of heart's, So this cannot be changed,, so he has to search for this exact card in the deck cause he cannot choose one at random. (But to make the trick better he should of made it look like it was random, (all cards the same etc....) but he did not, leaving this clue..) Second, He puts the ace of heart's with the "heart" right side up, but the card was put (inside the cage) with the heart upside down (the point facing up). Third, if you look at where and how he puts the card he does not match the exact location of the card ( he puts it at an angle and a little to the left) but the "revealed" card is pretty much strait vertical and more to the right.

@@HunterThinker From the very beginning and take a look at the right corner of video. You can see the body shadow obviously appears on the red base. However there is no such shadow on the white aluminum window frame which is just located above. And during the whole video, the shadow NEVER appears on the frame no matter how the magician moves.

Perhaps it could be that aluminium reflects the surrounding light more brighter than (even gloss) paint on wood, so any shadow would have a smaller effect of darkening aluminium

I'd have thought they filmed the Tanger first, worked out the timing, then shot the man and layered his footage over the original, and cut out frame by frame where his hands are in original shot so it doesn't ghost, and the reflection would just look like it was there with the Wookie.
