Thank you man. You should to build your own with my plans ;-)
@simonvanthoff6 жыл бұрын
holzmechanik thank you for your response! Well, I think I understand your reaction, given some of the objects you see on my own channel....but....well...everybody has it's own talents and although your plans are very precisely made and look very attractive I do know my own limits :-) because this kind of wood-based structures are something I just cannot do myself: working with wood is not one of my talents unfortunately! (My own kinetic machines are mostly made of paper and cardboard and, besides that, really specifically "designed" with practical use of my own "building-boundarie-talents" so to speak :). So yeah, that all said, I still réally wished this beautiful Magical Clock is for sale! Greetings from the Netherlands! Simon

Instead of purchasing 1/2" Baltic Birch plywood would it be reasonable to glue two 1/4" BB plywood's together and then do the cut out? It is difficult buying a small size of 1/2" BB plywood for me. Your plans are very detailed and the English description is excellent. Looking forward to this project.

Thank you. Yes this is the best way to do it if you can not get 1/2" plywood.

Unfortunately not the exact same one but with the plans I can send you supply sources for an alternative coil if you don't want to import it from the continent.

Thanks. The electronics are purchased. You only have to solder the battery holders to the cicuit board.

Great, elegant design! How accurate is this (mins/day) and do you see potential for further projects using an electromagnet?
@holzmechanik7 жыл бұрын
Thank you my friend. Because the clock is of wood, the accuracy depends on humidity and temperature. Sometimes it looses 1 minute/week. Other times it looses 2-3 minutes/week. For a wooden clock this is very accurate. For more accuracy people can buy a atomic clock ;-) My future projects are always top secret. Stay tuned for my next projects. Christopher

in roman numerals, 4 is written as IV, but in watches & clocks it is written as IIII for hundreds of years...reason is debatable, most popular one is that number of letters on either side of an imaginary vertical line running through the centre of the clock is same, i.e. it is symmetrical BTW ur clock is pure awesomeness 😊😊😊
@holzmechanik8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Abid. Yes I know this. But I like the IV more, so that's the reason why I have not used the traditionally spelling for dials. It is also easier to cut ;-)

Hi Ali, sorry for that. But at the moment I can not offer a suitable payment option for Turkey.

Thanks Basilis. If you buy the plans, I can send you also the dxf file, with which you can let you cut the parts with a laser. Instead of a discount you can build my free plans Katz & Maus. They are downloadable at my website. The plans of Magica are worth the money. Wish you a nice weekend, Christopher

Wow this is amazing! Too bad I'll have to build a CNC machine to be able to use the plans :-(
@holzmechanik8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. You can also build it only with handtools. But I recommend a scroll saw. A CNC machine is not necessary.
@Afief8 жыл бұрын
Sorry my wood skills are non-existent, so I didn't know what a scroll saw was before googling. I am really amazed by your work, but I think I will start by building your CNC router (from your plans) and then move to these beautiful clocks. I know nothing about woodwork, I know something about CNC, better build on my skills than risk losing a finger.
@dayiothmane59438 жыл бұрын
Good job 👍 can I have please more informations about the electronic system ?
@holzmechanik8 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dayi. The clock is driven by a solenoid coil, which gives the pendulum at each swing the needed energy to keep it swinging. You don't have to wind the coil by yourself because it is a standard part which you can buy. In the plans you will find supply sources for the coil for different countries.

Hello.What electronics controls the clock?Similar to the Arduino.
@holzmechanik8 жыл бұрын
Hi Yarik, there is no need for a microcontroller. The magnet of the pendulum switches a transistor and then the batteries are powering the coil. The clock ist mechanical, so the time comes from the length of the pendulum.
8 жыл бұрын
holzmechanik for how long will the batteries last? (approximately). How accurate is the time after a couple of days? Would it be possible to use thinner material, 5mm?
@holzmechanik8 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, I have used rechargeable batteries and they last for about 3-4 months. Then you have to recharge them. For a wooden clock it is very accurate. In the last two weeks I have lost only one minute. Yes you can also use 5mm ply if you want. Wish you a nice weekend, Christopher
@pugsilant73857 жыл бұрын
why cant it be only the free templats and why is it so expensive
@holzmechanik7 жыл бұрын
Because it takes many hours and prototypes to design a new clock. If you buy my plans, you will see that they are more than the usually "free" plans on the internet. My plans for my "Katz & Maus" automaton are free. You can download them here: holzmechanik.de/katz%20u.%20maus_eng.html
@abtkar17448 жыл бұрын
I can scale the clock
@holzmechanik8 жыл бұрын
Scaling the clock is possible but difficult, because the length of the pendulum should be the same. Otherwise you have to change the translation ratio. And this will be a lot of work. So if you want the clock bigger, the easiest way is to only make the dial and the hands larger.
