I just love everything about this painting from the color to the mark making and those beautiful twisty vines… love the dear little mushrooms growing off the side of what appears to be a mountain of lush green forests! And the yellow on the paving stones makes it look like the sun has peeked through the trees and lit the tops of them! What a pretty touch. ❤❤

I've been watching your videos for a couple of months now and I just wanted to say your intuitive process is fascinating to watch develop. This past year--starting in October 2023, I've been focusing on watercolor: I also do collage and acrylic paints, and acrylic monoprints--mixed media stuff--but I'm focusing on watercolor now. Your methods of layering the colors and using various inks, colored pencils and and paints bridges the gap between mixed media and watercolor. This is one of my favorites of your work--unlike you, green is my favorite color!

I love your idea of using up greens. I am on a "no buy paints" for 2024, thus I have a lot of beautiful greens paints to use up. As an abstract, intuitive painter, my world offers a multitude of opportunit to paint with greens. I have paints by Kurotake, Daniel Smith Mission Golq, Qor and Cottmon. I may not need to buy paints in 2925. I don't know if I can handle not buying paints for 2 years.

I think is my favorite piece you've done! it's so beautiful and the 'mushrooms' do look like they are glowing. It's just perfectly balanced. The addition of the pencils really make the different areas pop. Gorgeous!

Thanks for the advice on trusting our artistic brain. As I watched you apply the color, I was fascinated with the couple of rivulets of color. I thought that I'd love to have that effect on the paper - many of them. Then the plan (unless my artistic brain takes me elsewhere) is to use them as stems or trunks.Rather than leave their formation to chance, before I apply any color, I will wet my paper horizontally along the top - a thick blobby band of water, then pull down irregularly spaced rivulets and then pull the water horizontally along the bottom. That will be a thinner band. The top will be the flowers/trees, and the bottom will be the earth. I've been in an artistic dead zone, and within only a few minutes of watching this video, your ideas kicked started me again. Thank you so much, Bettina!
