Definitely in D dorian for the most part, but man, that switch up in verse 2 sounds awesome, especially that Dm to C# major, before returning to dorian with the G7. Does anyone have an idea where the song goes there? Like, is there a particular scale or mode that has that feel? Also verse 4 is crazy. It looks pretty phrygian at first glance, but maybe it also has some double harmonic major elements...? Like that Eb to D major. Crazy stuff, I love this kind of sound

@ i think verse 4 uses Phrygian, but also Phrygian Dominant, the fifth mode of the Harmonic Minor Scale, wich is basically the same as the Phrygian mode, but with a major tonic

I love how it contrasts to amber island so well, with amber island it feels like every monster gets atleast one part where they can shine, and it never gets too crowded, meanwhile with magical nexus, there are like 8+ monsters at a time, its so many at once at it fits with the lore of how the stair shaper wants everyone to contribute together

The way this island is structured genuinely gives off the vibe BBB is taking inspiration from the fan islands, and that’s honestly really great to see. They aren’t fully ripping them off (unless you go to the lengths and say they ripped off Magical Madness) and are instead taking inspiration from them for MSM’s official songs

Strangely enough, this actually DOESN'T remind me of that theme. Magical Nexus reminds me more of a theme you'd hear in Chinese/Japanese temples, or when going out for war in those countries, rather than being a strong but whimsical Egyptian-sounding theme like the Treasures of Ruin battle theme is.

I was holding high hopes seeing such a big island and MAN was I not disappointed!! This is INCREDIBLE, I gives me vibes of something like Moonlighter with a little extra spice and energy. And the progression of the song having the drums and then having the heavy drum bit and then also having the delayed drop this is SO WELL DONE. Absolute props to whatever people on the team worked on this song, this might beat Ethereal Workshop and Bone Island and those are hard to beat for me.

This is one of my favorite islands in msm. (Daring, I know.) But something I don’t see many people talking about down here is how *lovely* the synergies are. It feels like the song was designed for the song, not for the individuals, and the individuals are still great! The sounds flow into, compliment, and bounce off each other in a way I haven’t seen even out of fanmade islands. I love it!

In the trailer, we see the monsters start playing before they even reach the Nexus. Because of this, I like to think that upon shared grounds, the Magicals banded together to create this song to celebrate their arrival to the Magical Nexus.

Tbh this really sounds like a tll island! It’s the only one that actually does! It’s kind of crazy! I also really love the sound of this island it’s really calm and peaceful but. It's the only island with a large amount of monsters that manages to not overcrowd the song. Every sound mixes well with one another, and every monster is audible. Absolutely goated island.

I think cantorell played the shortest on an island a monster has played. He only played one verse for 5 seconds and that's it. (AND HE STILL SOUNDS GREAT) EDIT: I timed him and he plays closer to 4 seconds, also I'm saying how long they play in the song so even if their sound playing once is shorter than cantorell (like hippittyhop) some actually play more than once.
