NBC's proud comedy legacy, which has opened doors for countless comedians, is ready to "Bring the Funny" with a new competition series for the next generation of comedy lovers. The series will feature the world's best comedic acts and, for the first time on television, embrace every style of comedy performance in one competition.
The 10-episode series will bring together some of the most prolific comedians in the industry to serve as judges - "Saturday Night Live"'s longest-running cast member, Kenan Thompson, cultural tastemaker Chrissy Teigen and comedy icon Jeff Foxworthy. Comedian Amanda Seales will serve as host for the competition.
In partnership with the international organization Just for Laughs, which has given rise to some of today's most successful comedic acts via its iconic festivals, tours and television series, "Bring the Funny" will feature the best of the best stand-ups, sketch troupes and comedic variety acts. From solo comics to sketch troupes to musicians, magicians, podcasters, puppeteers, KZbinrs and more - anyone who can make audiences laugh will have the chance to receive the career-changing $250,000 prize package and see their name in lights in the "Bring the Funny" showcase.
David Friedman and Matilda Zoltowski will executive produce. Just for Laughs President Bruce Hills serves as consulting producer. The series will be produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio.

So disappointed in the judges. Randy was my favorite. Judges, this is a comedy show, not a magic show contest. Randy has far more comedy talent than the magician. Hands down. Weird thing is the two comedy guy judges misjudged and the non comedy female judge got it right. My jaw dropped when Keenan said the magician’s name. Then, it dropped further when comedy man Jeff Foxworthy made the tie breaking vote for the magician. Shocking! My wife thinks that Randy may have offended Foxworthy with something he said during the act. I didn’t catch what he said but I can’t think of any other reason why Foxworthy wouldn’t have made such a ridiculous judgment there.

i recently went to Randy's 2020 tour and he talked about why he was eliminated. Basically, there wasn't a captivating enough back story that he had to sell to the audience and therefore was eliminated if he didn't make one up. Heath who voices randy refuses to be a fake person on TV and sell the audience a fake back story, so he killed this performance and walked.

My understanding of what I learned after the fact is that behind the scenes there were issues where Heath, the puppeteer, wouldnt reveal himself and do a "creative backstory" so he was kicked off the show after his bit which is why the creators had him voted off so that it looked more legit. Randy kind of talks about it and different bits after this.

I love magic. It's one of my favorite talents and dont get me wrong this act was decently funny but it's not what I feel this show is meant for. That felt guy was hilarious

Honestly, the comedy in the magic act was mediocre. Most magic performances embrace the silly nature of the tricks, they inherently leverage on comedy to communicate the trick, or on wordplay to distract the brain to help slight of hand. Which is why it's exceptional when anyone strays from it successfully. But the trick wasn't particularly silly, just a slight of hand card pull after an imaginary (very manipulatable) set-up. And the delivery hinged on weird extra actions which is fine, but then the chosen weird actions were a random slowly set-up lunge which was only there to look dynamic and weird, and cringy "do this"-"why did you do the thing I just told you to do" jokes. Like, the trick was extremely basic for a stage performance, and the delivery couldn't even rely on the trick. Yet there was no gimmick, there was no persona, there was no banter, there was no wordplay jokes, there weren't unexpected or spontanious goofy actions, there was nothing that helped the trick to be done more smoothly. And the trick wasn't much of a set-up for jokes either. Probably a bit weird to reply after 3 years, but the "decently funny" kinda got me thinking. Because in reality, this performance to me just reeked of "I'm not good enough to just be a comic, I'm not good enough to just be a magician. So I'll try to create a niche to pass off my show better by combining the two" and not of "I love doing extra comedy in my magic act, so I'll advertise it with that distinction". The entire thing is just the worst of both worlds.

The magician did a single slight of hand from his pocket while doing the "lunge". His "magic" is nothing but simple pick pocketing & slight of hand stuff so easy a 5 year old can do it. I was so disappointed with this decision that I nearly gave up on the whole show & turned it off immediately. If they don't bring back the puppet guy as a wild card or something to make up for this epic mistake I will be very unhappy.

When Jeff said he likes wow moments. It's a comedy show, funny and enjoyable. It still can be wow and funny. It has to be funny more, Bring the funny. It's in the title. The level of experience really shows too, Randy’s WAY funnier because he’s been doing comedy for YEARS (his puppeteer is nearly 40). Idk how old Jarred is but he looks and sounds way under-experienced compared to Randy. They need to let the pros handle the competition!

The reason jarred won was because 1. He used kenan in his demonstration so thats how he got his vote and 2. Randy insulted Jeff which is how he lost his vote. It sucks that these two had to face off at this stage though. I really liked both of them and wished they could have both made it far

While a mediocre magician (notice how he blatantly manipulated Kenan into picking 'hearts' by having him choose a pile and then when it wasn't hearts to throw it away? he would have kept doing this 'pick one, throw it out' tactic until he got the the suit he had hidden on him) with no real jokes in his set won...and THAT was the first part of the show...I sort of lost faith in this program. I'm reminded of the final season of 'Last Comic Standing' where the Judges were overruled and made to feel like they were just stage dressing.
