It's not just that Shin is great with card magic, yes his sleight of hand is what could be close to perfection, BUT it's his innate sense of showmanship that put him on top. He was born with this rhythm and his love for music which, after the incident with his hands, he took that talent to card magic and who would have thought that something amazing would come out of it. Yes, Shin is great at card magic... but Shin wouldn't be where he is today if it wasn't for his years of dedication to music AND magic. Penn Jillete said to Shin that he believes if even one part of the trick is discovered by the audience, the entire thing falls apart. But even then, Shin's entire performance still holds up. I love Shin and it's not just his card magic I love about his performance. Try this, turn the sound off and see if the performance is as good as it is WITHOUT the music then you'll see that Magic isn't his only talent.

I can't do this stuff but I know enough to spot the switches for lots of magicians and I know what points he has to be doing the switches and for the life of me I can't spot them. @@dsakax No Shin Lim performs to the music, he doesn't perform magic he performs art. Watch some of his own performances, the full length ones, and listen carefully to the music and watch his hands, he moves with the flow, very soft and then sudden movements, it's actually beautiful.

At 4:46-4:47 you can tell on the bottom right corner of the card box that it isn’t full and that there were definitely no cards. Right before that, around 4:38 he opens the box by the table as he lets out the deck of cards. Its all about the angles and transitions. Its easier to be fooled by the camera than in person. Its still masterful how he was able to pull off such a long routine of illusions and sleight of hand.

I think the transition was too fast for the audience . One moment they are laughing at Ellen, next it's a serious face to Shin Lim is trying to pull. On top of that, Shin Lim is also known for that type of humour, try watching his videos on his channel and you would see he is actually a funny guy. So I don't blame them for laughing at Shin's "joke"
