Snape killing Dumbledore always hurts my soul. In the book, Dumbledore’s funeral was incredibly sad. The centaurs from the forest came out to pay their respects as did the underwater creatures who came out from the bottom of the lake
@snaz38810 ай бұрын
The centaurs would've been nice to see but the underwater creatures would be creepy lol
@Jmt1000XD10 ай бұрын
I think you forget that it wasn’t entirely sad. In fact, Harry learned a lot from it. He learned that he was so loved. That basically everyone from the magical world from different countries came to pay their respects. The true tragedy wasn’t his death, but the fact that Harry never knew Dumbledore. He never shared stories of the past with Harry and it alienated Harry a little and sets up Harry’s doubt in Deathly Hallows. The last thing was that the funeral itself was beautiful if I remember, the centaurs shooting arrows in the air, important characters from the past books paying their respects and lastly, Harry having to tell Ginny that they can’t be together then joining Ron and Hermione. The funeral being the catalyst that brought him to the decision to abandon Hogwarts and actively search for the Horcruxes.

The reason Professor Snape called himself The Half Blood Prince is because his mother who was a witch had the maiden name of "Prince". He loved his mother and was proud of her. But his muggle father was very abusive. Snape hated his father so much that he liked referring to himself as the Half Blood Prince rather than the name of his father's last name of "Snape" during his years as a student in Hogwarts. The ironic thing about Harry is he always had a hard time learning potions from Professor Snape. But the moment Harry found Snape's old text book with all of Snape's hand written notes and didn't realized that it had belonged to Snape Harry suddenly began to excel in potions. 📖⚗️🧪🪄
@rafaelmatos585110 ай бұрын
Even if Harry didn't bother to look upon the Half-Blood Prince's identity (since he didn't have a reason for that), Hermione did (mostly out of jealousy for someone being better than her at Potions) and she got so close! She suspected that Snape's mother was the Half-Blood Prince, after she concluded that the "Prince" part could be refering to a last name and not a title... and she was completely right!
@natewind55949 ай бұрын
In the book it seems to me that Hermione thought the handwriting that the notes were in seemed feminine. I took this as an indication that Lilly may have been helping Snape with potions, and that Harry was thus indirectly learning from his mother.

Okay so Fun Fact: in the books Harry does NOT have a decent grade in potions. There were times that even when he did a good job Snape would MAKE Harry get distracted or mess up the finished potion just to fail Harry. In the Fifth year, all student take a general aptitude test, that helps them sort out which career and therefore which classes to take in years 6 & 7. During these aptitude exams Harry realised that without Snape always bothering him and insulting him, he wasn't quite that bad at potions. If he was actually taught by someone willing to teach, he'd actually be above average. Not quite as good as Hemione, but still not failing.
@rafaelmatos585110 ай бұрын
That is true. All it takes is one bad teacher or one that can't really get you for one to not succeed in that class. Snape's classes were dreaded by almost all students, except for Slytherin house (since they were favored). But Gryffindor had it worse, especially the trio and Neville. The lattest was particularly terrible at Potions because of his immense fear of Snape. Even Hermione, who was clearly the best at the class, had her grade undervalued as much as possible by Snape. And the fact that Snape only accepted 6th year students that had top marks on the OWLs also contributed to the little success students had on his classes.
@patrickcromwell755410 ай бұрын
@@rafaelmatos5851 Well to be fair, Harry and Neville were his targets. Ron and Hermione were just not a factor. Except when he calls Hermione out of trying to answer questions and score points, he doesn't really acknowledge her in any way. Neville was just an easy target and Harry is the son of his worst enemy and that grudge is decades old. Yes she was undervalued, but never targeted with any kind of intentional spite like Harry was. As for accepting only the highest in the 6th year....that's kind of a weak point; don't you think?? As the teacher OF Potions, it's HIS right to set the bar high, so that the students are WELL prepared and knowledgeable for the future. You really don't want a student who's like a "C" average at best going into a field where potions are essential, right? It's the same pont that Quincy/Malfoy made in Armageddon. The President's Chief Science Advisor was someone who BARELY passed Astrophysics and HE'S giving advice about how to stop an E.L.E ?? Snape was making damn sure that anyone going into a career where potions was essential would KNOW what they were doing. Harry unfortunately, did not. Of course the flip side of that is also that NO ONE taught him. The Teacher actively refused to teach him, however following instructions isn't THAT difficult. There's a 50-50 blame to be had here.

Harry & Ron both got E(Exceed Expectations) in potion which is more than decent. It's excellent. Just not the perfection which snape values.
@rafaelmatos585110 ай бұрын
@@Roughguy666 Yeah, that's right... It took Slughorn to retake his post as Potions professor for the students that got an E to be able to keep having Potions. If it wasn't for that, Harry and Ron wouldn't be able to pursue their dream to become Aurors, since Potions is one of the requitements for the job. Snape's perfectionism was ridiculous. Yeah, Potions is an exact science and can be disastrous if a mistake is made, but even other tough and demanding teachers (like McGonaggal) would gladly accept students with an E.

In the book, after Harry cursed Draco with the Sectumsempra spell, Snape took Harry to his office and told him to bring his copy of the book with him. Except he switched it out with Ron's copy. “This is the copy of Advanced Potion-Making that you purchased from Flourish and Blotts?” “Yes,” said Harry firmly. “Then why,” asked Snape, “does it have the name ‘Roonil Wazlib’ written inside the front cover?” Harry’s heart missed a beat. “That’s my nickname,” he said. “Your nickname,” repeated Snape. “Yeah . . . that’s what my friends call me,” said Harry. “I understand what a nickname is,” said Snape. The cold, black eyes were boring once more into Harry’s; he tried not to look into them. Close your mind. . . . Close your mind. . . . But he had never learned how to do it properly. . . . “Do you know what I think, Potter?” said Snape, very quietly. “I think that you are a liar and a cheat and that you deserve detention with me every Saturday until the end of term.”

Sectumsempra was a curse invented by Professor Snape that lacerates the target and causes severe haemorrhaging. Snape created it as a student of Hogwarts, with the intention of using it against his enemies, likely including the Marauders, The Marauders were a group of four Gryffindors and classmates: Lupin, Pettigrew, Sirius , and James P. creators of the infimous map. Also uve seen them in the prevoius movie for a second and how they behaved, when Harry reverced a spell and got a glimse in side Snapes mind. Remember the marauders were bullies, Snape was their favorite victim but not their only victim, and those guys terrorized a village using Lupin’s werewolf form for laughs.

I believe in the book, when stitches were brought up and then told to the wizards, they were all like 'that's horrible! sewing yourself together, that's medieval!' kind of reaction lol. Technically - Slughorn didn't tell Tom how to do it - Tom had already learned about Horcruxes and made his mother's ring one (the one he had on in the memory and the one that Dumbledore destroyed which is why his hand was turning black)...Tom just wanted to know if he could make more than one, still Slughorn did feel ashamed for it because he thought it was his words that helped Tom.

I have a funny story about this book. The book came out at 2005. Back then, I have two other friend who also really obsessed with Harry Potter. English wasn't our first language, but my friend really good at it and her parents brought the book (in English) when it first released. Imported book was super pricy and It's out of my reach even for the translated version. I read other HP series by borrow it from friend or local library. She read it only for 2 days, she met me at school and immediately told me "Dumbledore is dead" when me met in the morning. I was furious because she gave me a major spoiler without my consent. She laughed and promised she would borrow me the book if I stayed calm. So, because I didn't want to suffer alone, I also spilled the spoiler to my other friend when I met him after school. To my surprised, he slapped me right in the face, in front of school. "Why you do that? Why you spoil it?" He asked. I answered with "Because I didn't want to suffer alone!".🙈 We yelled at each other for a moment and go home with anger. The next day, he apologized because he overreacted, I also apologized because I drag him down to suffer with me. I said I also want to slap my other friend because she spoiled it first. But I have to be nice because I wanted to borrow the book🤣. So, she borrowed me the book, this was my first full length novel that I read in English. Despite my language limitation, I read it in 4 days. My friend who slapped me, borrowed the book after me and he also finished it within 4 days. We talked about it for the next couple weeks, discussed every possibility that Dumbledore might be still alive, or where was the other horcruxes, sometimes we only trash talked Snape and Bellatrix. Couple of months latter, the translated version was released, I borrowed it from local library, and still crying at Dumbledore scene. Still tried to find any clue that he probably alive That good old day when our problem was a spoiler from Harry Potter😅

i hate this movie, than the book, the movies, left out alot of Tom Riddles background could of done the mother and father which help the reason of Voldermorts aggression to help turn evil. They completely left out also the memories of the stuff stolen by Tom and him killing people and framing others. They left the biggest stuff out. Added a bunch of nonsense not as much as Goblet of Fire. Which only areas are good they did in that but the worst movie of any of them. THis one is 4th worst i think of all the movies. Only 2 they did great the robes they wore not muggle clothes the acting to me was better not worse as many said, it felt more like how i saw it in the books, 3rd one is 3rd best movie but they were in muggle clothes too much which is just dumb they seem to be in muggle world than hogwards feel. But had it more like the book then 5th one which is my favorite book of all the books done 4th best. But this one they left out so much of Toms background it dont give the new people a sense of why he was why he was and how he became to be. The first 2 kept more to the book and looked like they were really at Hogwarts their robes attire way better than the stupid muggle clothes they didnt give that vibe of being at Howarts but a normal school sweater look and feel. The burning of the Weasley house was totally stupid why add that garbage. They forgot in the 4th to give Harry the money to the Weasleys twins so when at joke shop many new people were like why they afford it.

"How dare you" (About Ron and Lavande) -> In the book, Ron & Hermione have an argue just after the match ----------------------------------------------- - I have a word to say to you, Harry. Say Hermione. She took a deep breath. - You should not have done that. You heard Slughorn, it's illegal. - What do you have in mind, you want to denounce us? Ron asked. - What are you two talking about? Harry was surprised, turning around to hang up his robes and hide his smile from them. - You know very well what we're talking about! Hermione replied in a shrill voice. This morning, at breakfast, you added a dose of Felix Felicis to Ron's pumpkin juice! The potion that brings luck! "No, that's not true," Harry protested, turning towards them again. - Yes, it's true, Harry, and that's why everything went well, some Slytherin players weren't there and Ron stopped all the shooting! - I didn't pay it! Harry said with a big smile. He took from his pocket the tiny bottle that Hermione had seen him hold in his hand that morning. It was filled with golden potion and the cap was still securely fixed with wax. - I wanted Ron to have the impression that I had put some in his drink, so I pretended by knowing that you saw me. He looked at Ron. - You played well because you thought you were lucky. But in reality, you did everything yourself. He put the potion back in his pocket. - Was there anything in my pumpkin juice? Ron said, stunned. But the good weather... And Vaisey who couldn't play... So, really, I didn't drink the lucky potion? Harry confirmed with a nod. Ron stared at him open-mouthed for a moment, then turned to Hermione and imitated his voice: -"You added Felix Felicis to Ron's pumpkin juice this morning, that's why he stopped all the shots"....!! See, Hermione, I can defend my goals without any help! - I never said you couldn't. You too thought you drank the potion! But Ron had already walked past her and was coming out of the locker room with his broom on his shoulder. - Um..., Harry said in sudden silence. He hadn't expected his plan to have this effect. - We... are we going to the party? he suggested. “Go without me,” Hermione replied, blinking back tears. I'm tired of Ron at the moment, I don't know what I did to him... And in turn, she stormed out of the locker room. Harry walked slowly back towards the castle, among the crowd of students, many of whom addressed him their loud congratulations. But in reality, he felt great disappointment. He had convinced himself that if Ron won the match, he and Hermione would reconcile immediately. He did not know very well how to explain to Hermione that her only wrong in Ron's eyes was to have kissed Viktor Krum, even though it had happened so long ago. ----------------------------------------------- When Ron got into a fight with Ginny for kissing Dean Thomas in public, Ginny told Ron that he had the immaturity of a kid, that Harry had kissed Cho Chang and Hermione had kissed Victor Krum, and that he It was only him who found it disgusting! These words then deeply hurt Ron who was unaware that Hermione was dating Viktor Krum during the event of the goblet fire. This explains a lot of Ron's anger, and his reaction when Lavender kissed him, he who was not used to being popular... Between his argument with Hermione at the end of the match and the knowing that she had date with Viktor...

Yeah, the books explore a lot more Voldemort's life... and also explains why he became the person he is today. For example... his mother used magic to force his father to love her and conceive him. After she released him from it, hoping he would stay for their child, he abandoned her, leading her to become depressed and then die after giving birth. Because Voldemort's mother commited a serious abuse of magic by forcing someone to love her, she gave birth to a loveless person, one that can't love or even understand the mere concept of it. Then Voldemort became increasingly obsessed with the idea of becoming immortal, since he was affraid of dying.
@denizkenger5210 ай бұрын
@@rafaelmatos5851 In the book, Dumbledore states the love potion thing as a theory. JKR confirmed it out of the book but she also said the love potion was just symbolic and it had no impact on Voldemort being able to love or not, and that everything would have been different if his mother (Merope Gaunt) had lived and raised Voldemort with love. The love potion has nothing said about it in the books to stop Voldemort from feeling love, and it's directly denied by JKR out of the book. "Ravleen: How much does the fact that voldemort was conceived under a love potion have to do with his nonability to understand love is it more symbolic J.K. Rowling: It was a symbolic way of showing that he came from a loveless union - but of course, everything would have changed if Merope had survived and raised him herself and loved him."

And also the wizarding world itself. Dumbledore was Headmaster for... 25-30 years. But before that, he was a teacher. Before he was Headmaster, he was Head of Transfiguration (being McGonagall's mentor) for decades and decades. He taught A LOT of wizards and witches that now are very successful in their respective fields. Not just that, but he also contributed to many discoveries and even ended the reign of terror of darkest wizard before Voldemort, Gellert Grindelwald.

Ron doesn't know that Hermoine likes him because she never said and he's never really known that he likes her or if he could act on it. Lavender Brown never even knew Hermoine and Ron were even a thing because they themselves didn't know. Sirius Black was Bellatrix's cousin. Bellatrix is also Draco Malfoy's aunt because she is the sister of Draco's mother.
@patrickcromwell755410 ай бұрын
Okay so Sirius mentioned that he has a BIG family in the last movie right?? Bellatrix and Narcissa (seen in the beginning with Snape) have a sister named Andromeda Bellatrix married a man named Rodolphus Lestrange; Narcissa married Lucius Malfoy and Andromeda married a Muggle named Ted Tonks. Their Daughter is Nymphadora Tonks. That being said Bellatrix, Narcissa and Andromeda were born into the Black Family, so they are all cousins of Sirius and Regulus. I the Deathly Hallows Book there's even a scene where Harry sees Andromeda and freaks out and pulls his wand on her thinking she's Bellatrix. Apparently they look very similar except Andromeda doesn't look pale and deranged. She's described as being a rather more beautiful version of Bellatrix; If she were healthier looking and not crazy.

Well Hermione did mention the toothpaste but that's because her Parents are Dentists and she just likes the minty smell of her toothpaste. However being dentists Hemione's Parents (and Hermione herself) live in the city right?? she also mentioned "freshly mown grass;" I believe that is a clue about Ron. Or at least the Weasley's.

@rainbowpegacornstudios10 ай бұрын
Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry, specifically. Side notes: I've caught crap for this in the past, but I don't care: it's only explained in the deleted scene from the movie adaptation of Philosopher's Stone: A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat that can remedy most poisons. (The oversized raisin-looking thing Harry shoves into Ron's mouth when he gets poisoned) A fact that wasn't in the movie (it's in the book) is that Harry gave Fred & George the money to open their shop Weasley's Wizard Wheezes (say that 5 times fast) from his Triwizard Tournament winnings on the caveat that they buy Ron new dress robes and say they were from them. I definitely felt like Hermione when Lavender was cuddled up to Ron. (When she said "Excuse me, I have to go and vomit.")

The characters of Luna and Ginny get so short changed on the movies vs. the books. The movies "assassinated" both characters. I know it was due to time constraints for the movie but it is such a shame for people who just watch the movies not to get a better understanding of both Ginny and Luna...and also Neville

Yeah... especially Ginny. When we met her, she was so quiet and awkward... and all because of Harry being near her. After she conquered that, Ginny started to show her true self (the one she normally was around her family), the one of a very confident young lady that is not affraid of standing up for herself.

Sadly the movie has cut soo mant characters and events out of the book, it hardly feels like the same story I can't recommend the audiobook version read by Stephen Fry of this masterpiece enough ❤

I had a frailed copy of the book. It was passed on to me by my elder sister when I was around 14. The first few pages were jumbled in order so you have to jump back and forth to read it, some pages came off the binder, some pages had the alphabet distorted and difficult to read, and the ink wasn't printed on brightly in other pages. ~600 pages of bliss. I used to read it every evening during the best days of my life with no stress or worries. I associate the book with those memories, and it's a good feeling.

@@Coach-rq6jx I preordered the book, and had it delivered to my home on release date. I read the whole thing in one sitting without even realizing it until I had reach the end of the book the next morning. I even forgot to eat or drink 😂 I have read the whole series several times since then in Finnish, English and Japanese, and even listened to the audiobooks more than 5 times already in English and Japanese (not nearly as good as Stephen Fry's version, but it is still a pretty good version) This book is always in my mind as the goal to get to asap each time I restart the series binge 😍
