Jay, this is your best sound yet...Powerful, relaxed, tone/timbre is on the money. I guess can listen to music for hours without any fatigue. The Constellation are doing magic with the M6. Your room new acoustic treatment looks fabulous. Looking forward to hear from you on your new amps and these wall panels. Congrats!

I'm a little shocked that people have such strong opinions about a video on KZbin. Lest you forget, the signal has gone from digital to analog (in Jay's system), back to digital (on the recording device), then compressed down for KZbin playback, and finally from digital to analog in the viewer's system. Even when I play the original source material (thanks, Jay, for linking to it in your description) on my MUCH more modest system, it sounds WAY better than what is coming over KZbin. Just like any audiophile-related video I find on the Interwebs/KZbin, I simply use it as a jumping off point, not as reference-quality sound. As far as the economics of Constellation (or any ultra-high-end audio), manufacturers will set the price to whatever they think customers would be willing to pay that will allow them to make a profit and remain in business. If a customer wants to play, then they will have to make the decision whether to pay. Could you get 90% of the sound of a Constellation for 20% of the price? Sure. But some people don't have to make that compromise. No one is forcing anyone else to pay for a product that they don't want.

Even if the sound come out of a cheap computer speakers. Serious audiophiles will get "Ideas" of that component character ex. warm, bright, dynamic, bold, crisp, bass to describe. The only thing we need is something to compare to, in this case, other Jay's video. For me this is very easy.

That amplifiers are something special, another level. I'm just red description of Hercules from there website an that is best explanation for what I heard "The performance of the Hercules II Mono is not affected by the speaker, nor by the program material, nor by the listening volume. It delivers the same musical intimacy and emotion with any speaker, with any music, at any volume."

Jay love the videos. just remember with right placement, Room treatment will enhance your sound but it won't change the characteristics of your equipment. It will give you a bigger sound stage and deeper 3-D imaging. but too much will make the Room sound dead, which is almost as pragmatic as an over the bright Room. Good luck and have fun..

Mark Smith So now the room can be bright??? In another conversation with me, you wrote that is not possible to tone a brightness by acoustinc treatment, cause the tweeter is bright.Double standards i see. It's not that easy to make room like this, "sound dead". I see there is plenty surfaces to reflect of.

Hmmmm Jay….. interesting. As an all a rounder, the Essence Monos still take it in my opinion, hah! Okay, where the Essence’s performance is a smidge behind these amps, is in the initial attack of an instrument, especially a stringed one. These amps are fast, I’ll give you that. BUT, here is where 55 Class A watts per channel and nearly 450,000 micro farads of capacitance per mono wins hands down is in its resolving power to pull the composition apart, the layers of music (instruments) are separated and laid bare with uncanny precision, but yet those Essence Monos still retain their musicality, due to I think the Class A bias. The Essence Monos, sharply cuts, carves and delineates each sound (instrument) precisely; the shape of the sound and hearing into that instrument is so clear, it’s stunning. Each instrument is precisely held in space and the blackness of the background and air around each instrument is stunning. These current amps have the faintest hint of electronic glare, but worse yet, these amps impart an electronic sound to a composition which could be a bit taxing for long listening sessions. When it comes to musicality, resolving power, hearing layers separately and instruments cut in a 3D space, the Essence Monos are too great an audio force of nature - IMHO…. :). Maybe some more time to let the amps season-in will fix it; most expensive amps need a few hundred hours of seasoning to bloom. As always, three cheers for Jay! Thank you.

Best sound so far with the Magicos (Although they are in no way a speaker i like) and glad you are finally going the room route. Haven't heard your system sound this spacious before. I like the dynamics = emotion. Absolutely effortless. Guess it sounds spectacular in the room. But still a bit nerving in the highs and the piano doesn't really sound like a piano, more like a sound effect, same with the guitar, but could also be the recording or just me. Do you know the book "get better sound" by Jim Smith. Design and layout a bit old school, but the core of the knowledge shared in this book is pure gold. So many nuggets, which in sum pay off big. Best money I have spent in our hobby. Except maybe Powerconditioning, but that cost 1000 times more than the book ;-). And most of his tips cost 0$. If you have a look, i am pretty sure, your system will soon look different and more important sound much better. Thank you for letting us being a part of your journey. Much appreciated. Stay heathy and save Best from Berlin Germany

One thing about constellation monoblocks, there is nothing about their technology, build, and sound that cannot be matched at a lower cost. Their $70,000 and $170,000 reflective price tags are utterly ridiculous, considering what is inside those amplifiers which is still bog standard 90's type technology amplification circuit topology made up by the designers own idea. At their reflective cost you can 100% match their performance at a lower price. It makes no utter sense when you know what's technology is in these amplifiers and what cost you would be paying for then. Their is nothing about them that can classified as different to many other amplifiers, or can be classified and touted as high end more than many other different amplifiers out there. Their price is an utter joke, when you know something about audio technology as well as quality.

What amps are good as the constellation monoblocks ?
@ianjohnhorwood2605
@ianjohnhorwood2605 3 жыл бұрын
No such thing as their perfermamce sound quality cannot be matched. 300 amplifiers is not every amplifiers that have ever been made from the 90's and onwards to current. As their their are loudspeakers that can be biamped or triamped, you can match their sound performance and characteristics from bass through to mids and highs, and that's is guaranteed. . Non of these components here are a mutual marriage and handshake. They are just a mix and match set of components put together to form a system and an end sound by a mix and match set of components to see what happens when you put them altogether, while hoping for the best possible outcome, and you know that is true. Also there is nothing else that sounds like my 90's AVI S2000 amplifiers, for my mids and highs, and my restek challenger monoblock power amplifiers for the bass, which gives a wide open enveloping sound of detail, speed, transient response, and dynamics etc. These two amplifiers combined are more revealing of signal source detail from the source component than the constellation amplifiers could ever hope to muster, and that's no lie. One big set of amplifiers cannot achieve what you might actually want for the whole of your system end sound, which is definitely also true.

@ianjohnhorwood2605
@ianjohnhorwood2605 3 жыл бұрын
@@justadad2304 there is no one big amplifier that can do it all to your own sound requirements as well as taste. As there is no such thing as what you hear at home is exactly the same that was recorded in the recording studio, then mixed and monitored through unknown components, as well as the actual sets of monitor loudspeakers that were are used throughout the listening and mixing process. There is also no such thing as the best, the most high end, including at any price possible, including that can do absolutely everything in you want in sound quality performance with the actual desired outcome you want and are looking for. So you get the best and nearest components that give you the nearest sound and taste for your own requirements and love for music itself. Whether it be a set of passive components specifically chosen to work together for your own specific desired end outcome as reguards the end sound, or whether it may be some tri-active analogue electronic crossover 3 way class A/AB powered studio monitors, and so on and so forth. It's all about what you desire and want for the sound you want for the the end outcome of your whole audio system chain and choices, because as I have already said, there is no such as the best, nor including at any price. With the price of all these components jay has here together, for a lot less cost for example, you can actually have custom made to your own design requirements and specifications and requirements of a very high specification pair of class A, or AB active crossover loudspeakers like ATC transducer monitors designed to your own build requirements and taste, as well as their drive units and their sizes and how many etc and so on.
