I’ve seen many negative reviews since the release and didn’t pick this, rn considering this, as you mentioned I am worried about the X re appearing in places where UV lights exist, I’m a hobbyist so probably will buy something better, thanks for the review!

,Hi David, I can't help feeling that I'm in the vast minority in not caring for this effect at all. Like yourself, the initial hype put me off and nothing I've seen has changed my mind. I've an idea how it works but to be honest I'm not bothered. Thanks for the review .

I'm in the same camp. I have a few guesses as to how it works, but more importantly - at least with the nerd and geek company I tend to keep - I'm sure most of them would not find UV + disappearing ink very impressive.

The engineers and scientists I perform for occasionally would laugh in my face haha. It's not even trick of the week for me. I might be able to do something with it if I stack enough methods but it's just not worth it. I'd get better reactions if I used it as a regular light and did the laser deal haha.

Received mine a week ago & can’t wait to see the reactions from people; hoping it freaks people out in a good way..! Not sure how many people will be using this Amazing device for card effects; as I already have too many card tricks - and probably most magician’s do too… 🙏😃🎩 PS plan on making the X go back onto the spectators hand so solves the X still being visible there..?

As usual a considered and informative review. I'm aware of the hubba bubba around the trick and it seems a decent one, but there is a nagging question. Why would one carry around a UV light to do magic with...not exactly an everyday item or an item (like a deck of cards) which one might expect someone else to perform a trick with.

A familiar effect is in the How to Read Minds kit. The pen is the same black one you showed. The UV light is tiny. It's possibly the exact same device?

Seems to me that the transitional effect capability is really where the value is at. Otherwise, a sort of UV swami gimmick, and a regular UV light would be just as deadly... and potentially cheaper. Kind of an 'ultimate swami' routine where everything seems open and there is a real surprise revelation.

Yeah, the hype, my god. "Possibly the greatest trick of all time" as I read, lol. Yeah, nothing Robert Houdin, Dai Vernon, Ricky Jay, or David Blaine ever did was quite this good. Glad to hear it's a good trick, and to Barnes's credit, he seems embarrassed about all the hype, at least on Magic Cafe. But he still also tends to overhype: I have Cognito, and he devotes an inordinate amount of time in the tutorial to talking up the effect. Every other sentence seems to be "Isn't that just the most incredible thing ever?! Isn't your mind just absolutely destroyed now?!"

Too bad, the next one who is not honest! Lux doesn't work the way it did in the trailer. You can see two cones (Without going too much into the method). The Lux Facebook Is full of complaints. Posts will no longer be released if they are negative. People destroy their lamp to grind it. Spectator cannot hold the lamp because it must be kept at a certain distance and angle. Why don't you go into all this? Thought you were open, honest and direct. What a pity.
@magicorthodoxy2 жыл бұрын
I guess I didn't see "two cones" (I dont even know what a "cone" is LOL) a spectator can totally hold the light - so that is not true. I'm not a member of the LUX facebook page so I can't report what happens there - I can only give my own opinion.
@pilot_sky2 жыл бұрын
@@magicorthodoxy Two cones = two different circles with different light.... This has a lot of users, so the bulb is sanded to diffuse the light. But I don't want to go into the method further - even if llyod himself has shown the method. The viewer cannot hold the lamp without seeing how suddenly one light goes out and the other light points to another point. Please see the tutorial video again. That's where the problem is shown.
@magicorthodoxy2 жыл бұрын
the user can hold the lamp if they use the click on and off method that I used in the video there is enough time delay between the two (do you own this?)
@pilot_sky2 жыл бұрын
@@magicorthodoxy Yes, luckily I had Lux a few earlier and llyod didn't want to publish my critical post. He immediately wrote to me and offered help and then created a tutorial video for everyone. I'm just judging the trailer and how the viewer uses the red flashing loop mode. This doesn't work in real life (see review by philo from card shark).... I also tried it myself.

Fantastic review as always OG Dave. I boughtmLux last month. As a Hobbyist, I have not performed to anybody outside of family yet. Great concept but I just don't see myself taking a UV light to a restaurant, etc with me even if it's sitting on my keychain. When I go to a restaurant or somewhere else and the staff knows I perform magic for them, I usually just take one normal deck, one gaffed, and a few coins. Oh BTW, I need to stock up on some more DL T-shirts== Greatest T shirt ever made !! So comfortable and hilarious slogan-- and you practically give them away-- up the price Dave !!!!! I don't see the King of Clubs shirt anymore on there? Was going to get another one of those as well. But the DL shirts are pure gold !!!!
Awesome review for an awful trick. If this is a good trick I truly am getting old and “don’t get it” anymore. “You young magicians git off my lawn with yer Lux gimmick!”

I like Cognito, but this was way over hyped and over priced for what it is. People like Craig Petty are over hyping his buddies tricks. Also, apparently a lot of the keychain lights have been defective. People are saying you can plainly see its 2 different beams of light. All that hype for something I do not see as that special. Guess that's where magic is at now, over hyping. Everything is "the best you've ever seen" LoL.
