These reviews are absolutely perfect for me. Not too long, not too short, straight and to the point, easy to understand and not too “revealing” but giving the average magician or hobbyist (like me) an idea of what the scenario is. It doesn’t matter if already have an effect he reviews or not, it’s always a must watch. Keep up the great reviews!

i definitely agree with the entire review. I have slightly smaller hands and I have to be even more vigilant about my angles. I do love how this can be an EDC and how magical the experience is for the spectator.

I actually went to my local magic shop today and bought this, as well as liquify. I told myself I wouldn't get liquify because the method is too easy. I broke down and am very happy with my purchases. Thank you for the great review as always.

A lot of magi are disappointed when they drop a fair piece of change for an effect, and they don't receive any crazy, exotic gimmicks. You won't find any gimmicks like that with "Repo". Instead, you will find a master class on how to perform mind blowing magic with a minimalist attitude in mind. My opinion is that if you were fooled enough by a demo or a trailer to purchase a particular trick, you have no right or reason whatsoever to complain about any aspect of said trick. This could very well be the T.O.T.Y for '24....Great review David!
@magicorthodoxy2 ай бұрын
I agree, it's a great effect!
@paulksicinski61812 ай бұрын
Your comment about being fooled by a trailer means you have no right to complain is rather naive. The presumption built into that comment assumes the trailer is a fair and accurate representation of an effect. Unfortunately, some trailers are not accurate but are creative in how an effect is presented. In fact. That problem is why this website exists.
@donpodlas55462 ай бұрын
Point well taken. There is a ton of bullshit being passed as workable magic in this community, as well as doctored and edited demos and trailers. I have to agree with you. I do think that sometimes however, magi forget that they are also paying for creative suggestions from the inventor of the trick, which also deserves monetary consideration. Take care and be well...

Excited about the product I diligently watched every review out there and concluded that because of angle restrictions it is not for me at this stage. Shame because the effects are really astonishing. Would you agree that spectators really need to be directly in front of you? All best to everyone celebrating thanksgiving. (We don't have it in Australia). Cheers David

Thanks, this review clears up some questions. I felt attacked to the gimmick but wondered if it could be used with other objects. One that remains: Would it work with something that is a shell of it former self, or is that already too heavy?

Tobias has released some great stuff this year but while these things are easy there is a big difference between doing them well and doing them poorly. This is amazing for a certain type of performer, but I'm not sure how many can truly pull it off.
@magicorthodoxy2 ай бұрын
It takes a lot of practice and skill.

That describes most (if not all) of Tobias’s releases. They look great in his hands but that doesn’t mean it’ll work for everyone

David, great review as always. Question: Can the chain and key be replaced with bigger/sturdier versions? Or is their size/weight mandatory for the effect? Gracias, and happy holidays!

I do a lot of corporate strolling sets. People are all round me. The angles are bad for me. It is great for a parlor show or social media. I wouldn't take it to a corporate gig. And yes, I did try it. Only did it once because people were behind me. But, it is easy to do and looks great in the mirror... the trick, not me.
@Aric67852 ай бұрын
I was on the fence with this… but then I saw a video of a performance online and it clearly exposed everything. I didn’t even have to replay it… No doubt it’s a nice visual effect, however, way to angle sensitive for me.

Hahaha darn...I had this idea years ago..not the necklace, that is a awesome addition. But i created my own gimmick after using the trick Frye's Chips by Charlie Frye. I modified the gimmick to be less (dangerous) and more Attractive to the hand. I could spin a metal coin as well as ditch the coin and a small key i had. But i treated the key more like the vanishing cigarette trick and reappear.
@magicorthodoxy2 ай бұрын
That's very cool. It's always amazing to see people taking inspiration from existing tricks and coming up with their own unique variations.

From what I could see from the trailer, the gimmick could only be in one logical spot on the performer. I assume it's built like a Swami gimmick, but functions more like a vanishing matchstick.

This does NOT come off as a rave review. Even when I saw the trailer on Penguin, I just felt it was WAY too small and it had a 'minor' feel to it. Thanks for the review, I did NOT feel excitement here. I'm going to pass. p.s. like your B.S. t-shirt. I would never peg you as a Sabbath fan.
