I just started using MagicPlan and found the tutorial helpful. I want to add some feedback that I hope is constructive. 1. It would be very vey helpful be able to add colors for at least walls and floors. Textures would be even more helpful but the ability to at least put colors on things would be good. 2. When determining the spacing of things like bath/kitchen fixtures it is really needed to have a virtual "human" object that can be dropped into the design, to determine if there is sufficient space at a sink, stove, etc. I was rather surprised that something this basic is not available. 3. A lot of fairly basic objects like cabinets and floating shelves have fixed depths that cannot be adjusted. This is a bit frustrating as in the US there are often several depths available and it is hard to construct the space with the provided models as the depth cannot be defined (even with the "resizable" versions of some models. 4. I spent a lot of time trying to attach a water closet to a bathroom... the space is too small for LIDAR to scan and when I designed it as a basic rectangle it kept messing up the original design when I tried to connect it. It turns out that you need to drag it over in the layout until you get one corner to show green and then it will snap into space. Would be helpful to understand this detail better in the app itself. Everyone I have shown my design to including my general contractor have been really amazed with what this app can do, I hope you can continue to enhance the functionality of it!

Is there a tool on the Magicplan floor plan to “mirror” the floor plan? Our house would be better on our building lot if reversed/mirrored.

Hi there, unfortunately not yet. Please feel free to add this as a suggestion directly through the app. Go to My Account > Suggest a feature. Our product team will then be notified and in addition, all the people interested in the same functionality can add their votes to your request. However, before exporting a PDF of your project, you can tap on Files and Sharing> "configure" (near the export format) > Rotate plan to maximize scale. Doing so the project will fit the page better when you export it as a PDF document. Silvia

A good overview, thank you. I have been using Magicplan for a while and still learned a few things. Keep up the excellent work. One thing I noticed in the video is that the room count in the project did not tally with the actual number of rooms. I have found the same thing with my own projects, is this a bug?

Hi Drew 🙂 I counted the rooms again and what is "missing" in the room counting (see minute 27:10) is the hallway. But since we added it as a filler room it does not get included in the rooms. If this makes sense. However, it is included in the surface m² calculation, because of course you use that space in the house too. Thank you for this tutorial. I am begginer so please excuse my ignorance! You show taking the measurements of a room, then jump to plan. I do not see that the measured room translated to your plan? Please explain. I have a very odd room to figure out. It is a living/kitchen space. Thank you!

Hi, I like it but can you have a UI tool that can directly use on the main screen, the free form draw tool, there are lots of buttons i have to keep pressing in order to use that function. Also for the wall width can we also have a UI icon that we can drag/scroll, or manually change values on the main screen. thanks

Hi there! You need a supported device to scan a room (both with iOS and Android). You can check the list of devices here >> help.magicplan.app/supported-devices - If you tap on Insert > Room and you do not see the option to scan a room right on the top of the options, then your device is probably not supported. It is the device manufacturer that decides if it is compatible with magicplan, it does not depend on us, unfortunately. However, you can still create a room using the options help.magicplan.app/create-a-room-with-the-square-room-feature and help.magicplan.app/create-a-room-with-the-define-corners-feature

At least on Android (Samsung s21) the app does not behave like in here. It doesn't get green when you point to a corner, doesn't recognize windows/doors, you have to manually add the dimensions taping the phone and scanning and is impossible to get an accurate area, if you manage to even finish. Unusable. What device is being used in this video?

Hey there! In the current version of magicplan it is not possible to add sloped ceilings. You can only add a flat roof as an extra floor and you can also indicate the different elevations within a room with an annotation (tap on Add > Object > Annotations > Elevation, tap on the Edit option of the object & insert the elevation). If you have an iPencil you can try it, but I would rather use the fingertips, it works better in my opinion. Hi there! Do you mean once you want to change the measurement unit? I believe you mean the feet and inches, so if you tap on a wall for example and you want to change the unit from metric to imperial, then you will see the measurements displayed with 1/4 etc.

You need to tap on files and sharing > tap on configure (near the export format that you want to use) > scroll down to Floor scale and Room scale > chose the scale that you wish. I found this app to be infuriating. Sadly, this video was of little help. It would be so much more helpful if we just started from the basics: which is to simply design a house that doesn't yet exist as if drawing on a piece of graph paper. I don't want or need to scan a room with an iPad. That's a more advanced function that doesn't at all apply to what I would like to use the app for. Using an iPad to scan an existing room (whose dimensions don't fit the design of a not-yet-existing house) just seems like a pointless waste of time since the dimensions will have to be completely changed, anyway. I spent three hours on this app trying to figure it out. While I made some progress, I still couldn't figure out how to start from the beginning, which is to draw the exterior walls of a house, first, and then add interior walls for individual rooms. All I could find was a way to design each individual room as if they are completely autonomous from any house. That's ridiculous. I'm so fed up, I'm about to delete this app and try something else. What a waste of time. I could have drawn my design in less time than it took to poke around with this non-intuitive piece of junk. I'm very disappointed.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for sharing your feedback. I am sorry that you are having trouble using the app, however, magicplan is intended to work from the inside, not from outside a building. Basically, you create each room (with one of the options shown in the webinar) and then you can put the rooms near each other in order to create your floor plan. You can also get 100% accuracy if you implement the use of a Bluetooth laser meter help.magicplan.app/laser-distance-meters but please send us an email at [e-mail] if you need more detailed information, we will be happy to assist you so that you can use all the app functionalities.
