Feel this zoom should be compared to the Sony 24 f2.8G, 40mm f2.5G and 50mm f2.5G, all G, all compact and much closer in price in comparing them. The 50mm f1.2 is on a completely other level.
@BigOtherProductionsАй бұрын
Definitely would rather have the zoom! That 2.4 isn't worth it.
@SilatShooterАй бұрын
@@BigOtherProductions agreed, I tried both setups and while the primes are lighter and smaller, you still had to carry them in some form to have available. The zoom is easier to live with. I did find the bokeh slightly better on the 50mm f2.5 vs the zoom at 50mm. The one thing I found I had to adjust with on the zoom is the reverse zooming action - 50mm being shortest and zooming 'out' to 24mm. Feels off to my mind.

Not related to this specific video, but I was just watching your review for the Sony a7RV and I noticed your wedding photos and I wanted to ask about the flash. I recently photographed my 1st wedding using my new a7RV but I did not use a flash (big mistake) and I was looking around but not a lot of KZbin photographers have the a7RV for wedding photography while using a flash. I’ve looked online and found that people have problems with Sony Alpha cameras and a functional flash, so being that you yourself also use an a7RV and you have two flashes listed on your description, what are your recommendations/ reviews about the flash you use on your a7RV? Or do you have existing videos related to this topic that you could point me in the direction to? Thank you

Yup! no flash problems with me. Check this video on what I use: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZjXknhobKqmZ6Msi=sqFanGNI0yRrLaar

Hey Magic! Why the focus area jumps between different modes
@MagicWeddingPhotographer10 ай бұрын
Cause when you use spot tracking and lock on subject it does "switch" to wide tracking to track the subject across entire frame
@nand425 ай бұрын
Reshoot with the same aperture, than you actually will show the (non)existing difference 😊 It‘s the aperture and not the prime - you can easily use the fe40 prime (f2,5) to compare 😁

I'm putting together a travel kit. Right now it consists of the A7CR and A7CII, a 16-35 PZ, and a 70-200 f4 G II. I'm trying to decide whether to add the 24-50 G or the 50 1.4 GM. I love primes, but, unless you're in the studio, zooms are much more practical.
@MagicWeddingPhotographer9 ай бұрын
with what you currently have 16-35 and 70-200 I think 50/1.4GM will serve you better. It will give you more variety, great portrait lens, or when you need low light and you can use that 1.4

Hey Magic!! Every time you switch to that 50 1.2 I can hear the excitement in your voice. LOL. That and the 24 1.4 are probably my 2 most favorite lenses EVER in whole entire world. You’ll have to pry them off my cold dead hands before I trade it in for the zoom... ;D

Love the review. But I am wondering how it looks like when you shoot with all the lenses with the same aperture. I already have the 24 and the 50 mm and was thinking about buying this one because it is so versatile. For weddings I use 24 and 16-35(mostly with ceremony and party) always in combination with the 85mm.
@Daniel_Zalman10 ай бұрын
If they made a 24-50 f/2 for, idk $1600-1800, I'd trade in my 50mm GM f/1.4, because this would have covered. Maybe would get a 85mm for portraits and that's it. Now, with a just a 50mm gm f/1.4, I have no idea what to get as a second lens. I'd like something wider for indoor parties and home gatherings with friends, can't really decide between 24, 28, or 35. I really would love the 24-70 gm version II, but that thing is $2400. I'd probably only get it if I traded in my beloved 50mm. Maybe that's a good idea, and possibly get a slightly 85 or 105 in the future for that delicious bokeh.
@MagicWeddingPhotographer10 ай бұрын
24-50/2 would be beautiful but probably huge. My guess is we're gonna get something like this one day. But for now the focus of Sony seems to be compact lenses.

Why even bring this out when tamron makes a more attractive 20-40 2.8? They should concentrate on areas where we need upgrades and evolvement. Like a 24-105 2.8 or 24-70 2.0 zoom.

I have to admit, the f2.8 50mm showing more context of the background, was actually more pleasing than the f1.2.

Nothing wrong with the lens. The problem is first-party price, third-party performance.
@MagicWeddingPhotographer10 ай бұрын
In what terms do you mean 3rd party performance? Performance wise is as good as any GM lenses - gonna outshoot most 3rd party solutions with Sony cameras - focus breathing compensation, shooting top hi speed burst, sharpness, fast AF.
@frankfeng270110 ай бұрын
@@MagicWeddingPhotographer For the price, you'd expect more focal range, smaller size, and less focus breathing.
