To add on the note that Magikarp can live in the muddiest of waters and still be content. Lotus flowers arise from mud. It's the symbol of Buddhism that even through the hardest of conditions, a monk can still be content. Thus Magikarp is a lotus flower or a monk. Really loved the episode

I've alwyas thought Magikarp was the most relatable pokemon. People think I'm crazy or stupid. He spends his entire life getting kicked around, told he's useless, and in a way, he is. He's unskilled, has difficulty learning, but he keeps leveling. Eventually, he takes all that hate and doubt thrust upon him, shovels it into the furnace of his soul, and that fire fuels his transformation into the most versatile and ferocious pokemon of the original 151. Gyrados! The creature that can learn multiple different elemental moves, dragon rage, etc. I realize these were things you covered, but I just thought I'd throw it out there. He's not my favorite pokemon of all time, but I have a soft spot for it.

I have always loved magickarp!! H is so cute and sweet but now I love it more!! When I first saw a magickarp I saw his crown, his cute face, and his bright colors!
