The only problem with Vai, is that he's so incredibly fluid at technicality. he's so technical all the time that his licks can sound like there is no emotion behind it. Almost as if an animatronic robot is playing the guitar, programmed with all knowledge of infinite scales, and programmed to play on key but intermingling every possible note of every possible scale. Go listen to him play "blue powder" where he slows it down. He is good. Very good. and has a unique style all his own.
@MusicissuperiorEVHROX316Ай бұрын
Technically that’s Yngwie’s thing. I’ve never heard Vai play with anything but soul; he’s translating his soul into his technique and just having fun with the fact that the song is fast paced and intense. If that ain’t soul, I don’t know what is.

Vai is undeniably among the legendary, a guitarist's guitarist, the quality and clarity of those D'amarzios is flawless, if you discover any type of amazing electronic sound phenomenon and can apply it to the guitar, Steve Vai is the first person you'd want to share it with, because he'd dicover it's maximum potential! My point, Dweezil has not summoned his full potential, I love the twangy brassy sound of those oldchool humbucklers, the utilized sharp to flat clashing to break up the harmony grabs attention, its a style, id like to see more from Mr . Zappa, I believe Steve Vai is the key to unlock the genius that remains unshared.

Obviously not all of it’s for everyone, but they’re good musicians who respect each other and we should respect them in the same way. It’s a jam. Not MW1

Believe it or not, 'tone' mostly comes from how you (the player) actuate each note. Density of the the wood (giggity) plays a big part, so do pick-ups, amps, effects...way too much to even make the simple statement that one "sounds 10x better", because of one or two elements, like, choice in guitar and what "sounds better", is only relative.

I don't think of it as a battle. Two great players showing off their incredible talent!

I actually enjoyed this. Vai is his usual self. Dweezil absolutely killed it, hands down! Nice tone from the SG and his technique is superb. One of the better guitar duels a person will see on youtube...

It must be hard being THAT good and trying to stay humble at the same time. It’s gotta come out somewhere! I think Steve just has fun with it all.
