@@mpgrim3312 What do you mean the technique? Who says that it's the consensus that Magnus Midbo lacks technique? He competed very successfully! Regarding the mindset, the mindset might very well be not that he can't climb in competition settings, just that he doesn't enjoy it that much. The primary reason that would hinder him nowadays to compete on a top level is simply age. He is just a bit older by now, older than Jakob Schubert, who was the oldest at the Olympics.

All your emotions are fully on display here! From self doubt and performance anxiety, to slowly starting to enjoy the experience and entering the zone, "the flow state"! Amazing video! Amazing all-around Japan experience! With the videos of Pete and you climbing, this was my favourite "series" I'm always for the pure climbing content! 🤟

Some of the moves Magnus did blew my mind. I was yelling at the screen like "WHOAH HOW DID HE DO THAT!? THAT'S SICK". I think the competition brings out the best in people and we saw that here with Magnus. He doesn't have to compete all the time but I think he should definitely at least a few times a year. It's awesome to see a pro go at it around other pros to see whos the best.

What a powerhouse Magnus is man. You can tell how he's less and less confident in himself the older he gets yet he still manages to crush it and prove he can still climb with the best.

Best Video in a long time. Not because the others are mediocre or such. This one is just brillant. To see how happy you are getting into boulderflow! Bruised and beaten from a week of hard work allready but the flow kicked it all! Awesome! Please do what you enjoy so much and let us be part of it.

I dont think that will happen at his age but you never know, he is pretty stubborn if he sets his mind on something.

This is probably the genuinely the happiest I have seen you in a video. I feel like it really relit your passion for it. Don't feel to pressured or nervous just climb hard because it's fun don't worry about the expectation you place on yourself or from others. Ditto for everyone else too!

The ending could not have been more perfect with this 2-point difference. When I heard about the finals format, the flight sounded much more appealing. You have nothing to prove and you can just chill now, knowing you're still on the very top of your craft, that must feel so good. Might be my new favourite video of Magnus.

This is by far some of the best content Magnus has released and possibly my favourite video he's made. I'm a long-time viewer, I wear the Rúngne hoodie every day and it's great to see you still push yourself to your limits.

Hi Magnus, I don't usually comment on the videos I watch but this was so good I just had to say it! The format was great and the soundtrack so good 😍 I even found myself shouting ‘come on’! And above all, you were so happy! Well done! Maybe we'll see you at the MOF 2024 in Brussels!

Matngus, you are without doubt one of the most humble, modest, resilient, inspirational and motivational athletes in world sport. And whoever does your video editing needs a gold medal too. Absolutely brilliant video - this should be on Netflix as a series!

This was a pleasure to watch, you can see that part you 'retired' come back to life again! I think competitive events semi-regularly are just good for the soul. I forget the amount of times I've said I wouldn't compete in my sport again, to end up agreeing to 'fill in a missing place' or 'just for fun' and it has been an absolute blast each time, that edge just never seems to go away. Respectfully, please do more :)

I don't even climb but for someone who's retired I think what you achieved is amazing, you're a super human!!, I really enjoyed and felt inspired in learning climbing even if its just for a hobby, I will definitely watch anything you post, I love how you also breakdown how you are doing the climbs and what is going through your mind etc. Thank you for your videos, and I hope to see you compete more. I learned in life no one really retires from something they love to do, they just change their approach to it! Love you man!!

It was really cool to see you go from competition mode and nerves to having fun and just trying to push your score higher. I think that state you had towards the end is the type of mindset I should aspire to constantly be in when I go for my climbs as well - have fun and telling myself "I can do that" on harder climbs. And most importantly, I'm happy for you that this comp turned out to be a great experience for you (to the point that you even consider participating in more!)

It was a long time I didn't see you so happy during a video! The smile that came out when you did the black slab was coming really from the heart. I really hope I could see more competitions, both because it was amazing to see all these boulders and because of the spirit you showed in this video!

I think this speaks to how broad your talent is; you don't just do boulders that are your style and you're constantly pushing your weaknesses. Amazing job and thanks for sharing something that I'm sure was a pretty vulnerable experience!

The trust system is a very common thing in Japan. You can't monitor every single person in the competition efficiently, so it's just not worth it to even try to do so. It's also worth it to point out that they do not monitor everyone most likely because they trust the competitors. That means there's this mutual trust dynamic going on between the organizers and the competitors in regards to the scoring system. There are heavy implications of self improvement in Japanese society, so I would even venture to say that the organizers do not even feel pressured to check for legitimacy of scores at all. That and cheating in any competition would only mean cheating yourself. Congratulations on the result! Thank you so much for the upload and everything you do for the community.

@frosthammer9178 ай бұрын
@@niv543 Yup, and generally you know who the stronger people are in a gym, or you can see if someone is doing the real hard problems. So if a rando just writes themselves into being the winner its quite easy to catch it as well.
