Right! Every time I mention the movie everyone ALWAYS talks about the crappy remake & some folks dont even know the original movie existed
@corvairjim1 Жыл бұрын
@@SquirminHermanthe1eyedGerman The second "Gone" can't even really be considered a remake. All they did is jack up the legendary title and roll a completely different storyline under it. Lead character Madrian Pace becomes Memphis Raines. The only character name that I'm aware of that was in both movies was Atlee, played by Ribert Duvall in the second one and an actor that I don't recall in the 1974 film. The strangest thing about the character is that he somehow became white in the 26 years between the two films: he was black in '74! Madrian's love interest worked in the office with him; Memphis' was a reformed car their turned exotic car mechanic. In the first film, "Eleanor" was an orange-ish '73 Mustang sportsroof with dog-dish hubcaps, while in the later film she had morphed into an extremely fake gray Shelby GT500. The original had cameo appearances by actual, honest-to-goodness luminaries in the auto business (Parnelli Jones, J.C. Agajanian) while the second one was actors all the way, not a real car person in sight. I mean, they could have at least stolen a car or two from Jay Leno, right?😂

The car chase(s) in the Seven Up's were Amazing! I believe that they did the chase cum race with the Subway overhead was unrehearsed and that they didn't close the road, underneath the EL, out in the East Bronx (or poss Brooklyn?). I do recall that going up the West Side Drive / Henry Hudson Parkway, Roy Scheider totaled that Pontiac by piling it into a guard rail divider - Jaysus!

@jamesmcdonnell5617 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffrobodine8579 I think I got it wrong, Jeff. I juxtaposed the subway chase scen frome 'The French COnnection' upon the 'Seven-Ups'. The former was when Popey Dyle (Gene Kackman) ran his -Yes, same again, a Pontiac LeMans sedan I believe - out along New Utrecht Avenue in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Conta posto, 'The Seven-Ups' chase scenes were predominantly done in Uptown Manhattan - West 96th Street, then over the GWB, over into Jersey, up onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway and in New York on the Taconic State Parkway and the Saw Mill (River Parkway). The weird thing, of course, is that the crash scene is ostensibly located on the Palisades Interstate Parkway but the exit sign is for Briarcliff Manor over on the Saw Mill / Taconic (NY State) where the parked trailer sheers the top off Scheider's Pontiac Ventura. Philip D'Antoni was a consultant on 'The French Connection' to director, William Friedkin and a producer on all three whilst Director on 'The Seven-Ups', a once off. Combined, the homage to Sonny Grosso, 'The French Connection' and 'The Seven-Ups' , with 'Bullit', are singular examples of the pinnacle of 1960s and early '70s car chase scenes in a movie.

Her grandson was publisher of _Cosmopolitan_ when they did the Burt Reynolds centerfold where Burt was wearing nothing but his body hair and a strategically placed hand. He sent her a life-size print of the picture and she had it placed over her nursing home room door. First thing she saw in the morning and the lasst thing she saw when she went to sleep. Anyone who couldn't get enough '68 McQueen Mustang engine sound effects (like me) will certainly recognize the outrageous over-dub by the producers of the McQ Trans Am scenes using these "sacred sounds". What an insult. BTW, several episodes of the TV series "Mannix" also used our "sacred sounds" to make his 'Cuda seem more powerful and exciting than it's 225 cu.in.6cyl ever could. McQueen Rules!!!
