I have been following your channel for about a week and your videos are awesome. I do have one question. On the right side of the loading chassis, in a previous video about a magnavox, you mentioned the tab was broken off and when replaced, would fit into a sliding gear. I think mine is missing a spring on that sliding gear but I don't have another unit to compare it to. Can you please advise?

Just curious. Are SMT electrolytic capacitors inherently inferior to through-hole? Would you ever consider using ceramic caps if appropriate?

I think they tended to be inferior back in the early 2000's due to the capacitor plague and maybe they don't have as large of rubber plug at the bottom that makes it easier for them to leak, but I haven't really seen modern ones fail. SMT are identical inside to a regular cap, they just use shorter foil plates. Would be curious what NorCal715 says about this. Downside of using full size caps is that they are more likely to break off due to inertia if dropped or general handling, but if they'll probably be fine as long as no one else opens up the machine down the road.

Hi NarCal715, I have a ZV427MG9 that works perfectly fine, but if I hit Stop and do a full speed Fast Forward and then hit Play, it jams and turns off. I haven't seen any of the units you've worked on with that issue. Any idea?
