Hi Nerdly, I just came across this video. Nice job on the review of our product and thank you for taking the time to lend your opinion. Am thrilled you found us and that the mount is working to your satisfaction. In addition to mounting it to a tooling plate and machine table, I have mounted it to the top of my 4th axis on our small machining center when i could not find room on the table. Just a little background...we are an opto-mechanical engineering firm and machine shop and that dang probe was often in the way on our small machining center. So marrying the kinematic mount to the tool probe was done out of necessity. Kinematic mounts as you note is used widely used for repeatably mounting and de-mounting optics to within fractions of a micron. However, kinematic mounts can be applied to many applications, in fact the space shuttle is mounted in the rocket bay using the same kinematic mount concept!

I have this and it is fantastic. I've used it for a few years and being able to take the tool setter off and run material that normally wouldn't fit is a game changer

If you often run w/o it installed on the Kinematic Base, see link in reply below for the new Remote Nest to safely store the tool probe.

I'd be 3d printing a cover for that table mount as well. Last thing you want is chips hitting those mounting surfaces, when they are not covered.

Saunders Machine Works makes KILLER products. Worth every penny that they cost. I have one of their fixture plates on my Grizzly G0761 (custom made since it wasn't listed on the site at the time) along with three Mod2 vice setups. I went with the anodized aluminum (7075) option since that's what they also use on their machines. Plus it means I wouldn't need to remove it from the table like with the raw aluminum version.

Will it fit the pioneer tool setter on your X7?

yes but youd need a shelf in the machine because the pioneer is wired
