I noticed it's not easy to give Tom a good opponent. Almost everyone disappears next to Tom. He looks really cool. He's great looking. He can be Superman, Batman, and I even see him as Peter Parker in the episode Whisper. Tom looks amazing on screen. And it just shows how great Michael Rosenbaum is as Lex. Michael does not disappear next to Tom. And that's not easy. What a great Lex, the best Lex imo

The interesting thing about Smallville is that it's hard to discredit some of these filler episodes because the writers tried to push at least 1 aspect of the story line forward in every episode. Even if it was a B story.

Never understood the hate for "Magnetic". It's freak of the week, it's formulaic, but it's not one of the worst FOTW episodes! Story about Seth was pretty interesting, and it was nice that Lana for once is being "bad". That was nice change for her. Of course, later in the series we saw many sides of Lana, but in the beginning ( S1, S2) she had that sweet girl next door persona all the time, so (for me) this episode worked well.

Also, wanted to add that Clark and Lex have pretty good scenes in this one. There's one moment I've always liked where Clark and Lex are in the Talon after Lana leaves with Seth in the stolen car. Just as Lex calls the sheriff Clarks speeds out, and Lex's reaction is awesome. The way he sort of laughs and shakes his head, as if he is used to it. Also, the reaction a character who knows Clark's secret would have. Makes me feel that Clark should have told Lex his secret at this time. Maybe it would have made their friendship better and Lex could have turned out differently. Been an even greater ally for Clark in the future.😀😀

Some years back there was a magician by the name of erik von markovik who showed how to use magic techniques to more effectively socialize with women, he would get fairly famous for it. What I can say about how Clark Defeated magnet boy is because a moving electric charge generates a magnetic field. Interestingly too, you can generate electricity using magnets. If you're moving wire coil around magnets or the magnets around coil, it can push the electrons in the wire to create an electric current.
