Magnificent BMW R 18 custom build! l Spirit of Passion by Kingston Custom

“This won’t be just any old, stunning PR bike. It will be one with a soul, a spirit.” In just a few words Dirk Oehlerking makes clear what he - and his modified R 18 - stand for. Kingston Custom bikes are always something very special. They have names such as White Phantom or Good Ghost. And that’s not the only reason they put the fear of God into some and make the hair on enthusiasts’ necks stand on end. Even Dirk himself is gripped by total passion each time he does as much as think about his projects. However, there was something else involved in the R 18 “mega project”: a responsibility like never before.

It’s called a dust bin fairing. It’s origins dates back to early BMWs racing in salt flats. I like it. Now if only someone can revive Heinrich fairings and Hoske tanks for the R18!

Absolutely stunning and beautifully crafted machine! It runs and has the timeless looks like that of a finely crafted Swiss watch! As a self-taught artist & designer/builder myself I really love the timeless art-deco look of it, it looks as if I might've gone back in time and looking at an example of the art-deco style of the '30s to the '50s! Bravo!!!

R-18 project is ugly from the start. This is certainly why there are so many custom versions available. However, with this version, the Munich factory and Kingston Custom proved that it did not know the limits of ugliness. This is Hardcore Deco. R-18 will definitely not be a success in the United States, Europe and anywhere. It will only be a bad memorys in 5 years.
