@@niccolopolo5813I see both sides to be fair hurrem , rustem are feeding the sultans mind with suspicions about his sons ambition which they cover up by saying mustafa has good intentions which must be tiring for suleiman to hear but mustafa keeps making mistakes knowing their consequences and that is his own fault for making them

I forgot that this is where the odd concept of Manisa being the province of the "crown prince" is pushed. The Ottoman Empire operated under an open succession that didn't allow for the establishment of a "crown prince" role. It might count as the residence of the "favored" son, but it was rare for a prince to actually remain there permanently. It's why, in actuality, Mustafa's transfer was actually a _promotion_ rather than a punishment. "It was in this same month Suleyman ordered Mustafa's transfer from Manisa to Amasya. Although historians often interpret the reassignment as banishment disguised, it was clearly a key element in Suleiman's war plans to protect his eastern front as he himself went went west. The prince's transfer was a promotion in fiscal terms---Suleyman granted him a generous boost in stipend. Pellicier reported that another 3,000 Janissaries marched east with Mustafa. [...] The dispatch of Mustafa to the eastern front was a pointed announcement to the shah that the next Ottoman generation was formidable. It also let European powers know not to count on an Iranian thrust that would distract Ottoman attention away from their western front." - Leslie Peirce, _Empress of the East_

You have right about Manisa. It was the most easy province, and usually used for the education of the unexperienced sehsades. It was the first step. And then, usually, could be sent to another, more difficult province.

It's baffling how they all hate Hurrem like she's not ensured the future of the dynasty by giving it six children and having total loyalty to the sultan, the dynasty and the state.

Mihidevran is always so ungrateful. She takes everything for granted and that subconsciously influenced Mustafa as well. her telling Mustafa:' there is only me and you, everyone else is with their own benefits, no hatice no shah cares for us." like what ???? they are not obligated to protect or support Musfata since other princes are also their nephews. They have been backing her just like Ibrahim, valide. no one backed Hurrem. now she thinks they don't actually care for Mustafa and her, like girl shah and hatice have been defending you ever since, be grateful pls....

6:34 Why is Mahidevran called Haseki? Isn't this title reserved for the favourite wife of Sultan?
@127slayer8 ай бұрын
the show writers decided to give her that title even though she was referred to as Mahidevran Hatun in actual history 😭
@queenn92107 ай бұрын
Haseki was the title of the all of the Sultan’s Jariye (wife) who had a son , Sultan Suleiman had hundreds jariye and only there Hasekis ( 1. Gulfam ,2 Mahidivran ,3 Hürrem) and only one Nikah wife ( like today’s wife 😂) and that was Hurram , did you get it???
@ΑΓΓΕΛΙΚΗΚΥΠΑΡΙΣΣΗ-η8φ6 ай бұрын
@@queenn9210 The title Haseki Sultan, first time in history, invented from Suleiman for Hurrem after the death of Valide sultan for certain reasons: The most important was for the management of the harem and to have the opportunity, due to his absence of Istanbul (because of a war, etc) to leave his most trustworthy person (Hurrem) with enough power to take decisions on some state matters Because that period this title had the meaning of authority. (The same status applied to Nurbanu, Safiye and - less- Kossem). After Murad iv the title haseki was almost meanigless meant only "beloved" concubine with a child and - or--with better salary😊) and degrading until eventually disappeared in the end of 17th century (last haseki was Rabia sultan, but without any authority).So, until Murad iv existed only one Haseki Sultan per Sultan. All the others mother of his children were Hatun. Mahidevran was hatun. If you see photos from her tomb, it's written "Mahidevran Hatun". P. S. Before Suleiman even the title Valide Sultan did not exist. The title was Valide Hatun. It was the love and high estimation for his mother that made him invented and this title too. Plus, until the beginning of the 16th century (Beyazid ii sultan) even the daughters and the sisters of the sultan' called hatuns
@bubbles.133 ай бұрын
18:00 that's one of the reasons why I didn't like Mustafa. he should learn to be quiet and not question (his "i wonder" on every decision) the decisions and just accept them. you have to bow sometimes to rise higher but he thinks sulieman is degrading him for Mehmet rather than reflecting upon his mistakes and learn from them.
