Given how often the fear of disease is introduced into the show, I really wished they'd included not only Suleiman's three children who died in 1521 of a smallpox outbreak, but also Abdullah, another son of Hürrem's weirdly kept out of the show altogether who also passed from the disease. It would really heighten the fear of such moments since, honestly, the disease seemed to haunt Suleiman's bloodline quite a bit.

1:29:00 is where we actually get to see Gülfem being a good friend to Hatice in the midst of a depression induced doom spiral rather than the enabler the show later turns into.

You know, sometimes I feel that Mustafa is Mahidevran and Ibrahim's child. I mean he sure could do anything for those two. He could go to any extend to protect them.

Making Ibrahim into the Grand Vizier seemed like a very unwise decision politically when older, more seasoned viziers are there.
@Redluna329 ай бұрын
Bit of behind the scenes, but, for the politics of the time, this kind of thing was actually incredibly common (you can see it in European courts as much as the Ottoman Empire). The older statesmen are inherited figures that might try to exert influence over a ruler to keep things in the status quo. So, if the ruler wants to push for reforms, it's important to place a figures from their own inner circle (people of great trust, like Ibrahim) into positions of authority. (Ibrahim's rise really does mirror Hürrem's in a lot of ways, though, it's wild.)

Worst mistake Sulieman made. Giving Pargali that power.

Huge mistake!! Ibrahim’s greed for power and his arrogance went to his head! He thought he was invincible! SURPRISE!!!!

Hafse Sultan saying "what is this sudden interest in matters of state?" is interesting because women would go on to have a lot of political influence from this point forward. Even she herself has had some political power prior to this during Selim I's reign.

Hatice is so annoying urgh! Can’t she just open her mouth and tell her brother that loves her dearly what she really wants or atleast that she doesn’t want to marry celebi,will she die if she opens her mouth 🙄

As of my knowledge both Mahi and hurrem love sultan. And every woman loves his man they are not ready to share with anyone even Mahidevran's behaviour is quite natural but she's not smart enough to grab her husband towards her. Hurrem love is so pure ❤

Women are against each others cause of a man is kind a cringe. Mahidevran & Hurrem both deserves better men.

they have no choice, women in those times only could get power and rights through their man

It's funny to see people lamenting the sultan for promoting Ibrahim to Grand Vizier's position as an "unwise" decision. I wonder if they forgot how cruel, tyrannical, and sadistic the entire Ottoman history was, which in turn was a big stupidity of humanity itself. How could you expect anything wise from an Ottoman Sultan to do anything wise when his whole being was full of tyranny and stupidity? Ridiculous!!!

On wikipedia it is written that it was rumoured upon the death of piri mehmed pasha that piri pasha was poisoned by his son on agreement with pargali ibrahim pasha. But here it is portrayed wrong and in this series pargali ibrahim poisoned piri pasha's son to end his engagement with hatice
@Redluna329 ай бұрын
Eh, this doesn't sound all that accurate. Wikipedia is always a questionable source at best (people here have literally edited it to try to to win arguments or leave nasty comments on the pages of people they don't like) but the source for this rumor is from a 1994 publication and mentioned nowhere else. There's been significant changes to how Ibrahim is historically understood now (for example, we know he didn't marry Hatice) that without a secondary source to back this up I think it's safe to call this rumor only. (Also Ibrahim didn't poison Piri Mehmed's son in the show??)
