When all the others corrupted Mustafa against her she allowed her kids to love Mustafa. She never spoke bad about him to them.. only mirihma she told to avenge an protect her brother because she alone wasn't a problem for the throne. If Hurem poisoned her boys against maldevil an Mustafa they wouldn't love him so much. Mustafa chose to love them back despite his mother poisoning of him against his brother. Is when things get serious an maldevil killed Mehmet she begin to warm her kids against there enemies in their family. So Hurem didn't want to hurt Mustafa but in their lifetime unless them ago change the law , it was killed or be killed no ground level. Worse part about it whether Mustafa agreed or not they were going to go for the kill it's a sad truth.

Well both these executions were historically accurate so they had to do it like this. As far as why RL Suleiman would be more comfortable watching his son die and not his best friend its way more dark and shows one of the most brutal aspects of Ottoman dynasty. The show change this to make the story better but in RL there was zero bond between adult prince and sultan or other adult princes. Sure some of them got along better some of them got along worse but at the end of a day it was all very cold and pragmatic in the most brutal way. So as terrible as it sounds Suleiman might actually liked Ibrahim more than he liked any of his sons. This could be backed up with the fact that while he might not be happy about his decision to kill Mustafa later on he literally wrote poems about Ibrahim years after his death, showing much more remorse about Ibrahim than his own 2 sons and dozen grandsons

Another reason was because he had to kill Ibrahim in his sleep according to what Ebusuud Effendi mentioned that when the soul leaves the body that's when he can execute Ibrahim and still keep his promise/edict.

Suleiman promised to save ibraham even from himself so in order to have Ibrahim executed, he had to find a way to do it without going back on his word. The judge advised him to have someone do it while the sultan was asleep. i guess he never promised his son that.

Funny he saved the ants because he didn’t want to be judged for killing them but it’s ok that he executed his own son. Hurrem said it herself to Mustafa, if only he were her son. She knew how much he genuinely loved his brother's, it wasn't him that was the real threat. Mahidevran killed him the moment she said to Hurrem she would make her watch all of her children die, she confirmed what Hurrem knew deep down. So It was either Mustafa or her own children.

The ending explains Hurrem's dilemma. Mustafa might not have killed his siblings, but Mahidevran and her supporters would've. If Selim had taken the throne, he would've killed Mustafa and his siblings would've hated him for it.

It's horrible how things where, he promises never to kill his son and he does. The people ended up loving the son more than the sultan and now, are going to love Mustafa's son more than his grandpa. He just made things so much worse. Now the people have a reason to hate him. These episodes are so dang sad, the actors did an amazing job.
