I'd say the younger Kosem (not Anstasia) only adjusted to the role halfway through her screentime when she's a mother with many children. That's why her acting feels off especially during the earlier parts. Apparently she didn't want to be cast as Kosem at all but had to by popular demand. Otherwise she is a great actress.

Acting standards must be different in Turkey. Personally watching the new actress is like watching someone who had their soul sucked out try and act. She only gives a good performance about 10% of the time. The other 90% she appears dead inside.

Yup, because Anastasia was Anastasia, not Kosem. Kosem died when we went to Murad's reign 😢 The older one was so always do depressed, in fact most of Murad's reign with just death and sadness, plus the darkness of the palace didn't help.

But new actress is *Mahpeyker Kosem* , not Anastasia anymore . She is a beautiful flower growing in battlefield . The story has progressed a lot after the king's love story . To convert to Judaism it takes a year of instruction/classes it also hard to follow the rules especially if you join the orthodox. No cooking on the Sabbath (everything on a timer), no driving, no going to the cinema, no visiting places of interest no going on trains or buses etc etc and of course no more pork or shellfish and food must be kosher so going to the butchers is much more expensive.

For everyone who is complaining about the switch in actress. It was planned from the beginning. I think the other actress came in earlier than planned beacuse the ratings of this show in Turkey started to drop and the second actress is really famous and beloved in Turkey. But if you don't mind a small spolier the original/ first anastasia comes back in the last episodes to haunt older kosem as she thinks about her life choices.

I understand how switching the actresses for Anastasia comes across as a shock and feels a little disrespectful, but I personally like the way they did it, with the new actress walking toward the rebels, her back to the audience until the last minute, speaking of the loss of innocence and willing to sacrifice her life for someone she loves. I liked the old Anastasia but I think the newer one has a calm and maturity that fits the transition into Sultana better. I do like how she's maintained that little bit of spirit and cheekiness from the first Anastasia though, and both actresses are very pretty. I also like that the creators bring back the first Anastasia later as a ghost because it shows some appreciation for her, and I hope that actress was ok about it all. She seems to be :)

I believe the young/old Anastasia could perfectly adjust. It was her role to be too innocent. If her role was to be mature I believe she could still support it. make-up could help her look more imposing. But in any case she is very young, only 18 and she is also foreigner for the Turkish tv- she is greek...maybe it had to do with that too- although, I hope not.

after viewing this episode, I have a feeling, that this Iksender guy, is the son/grandson of Sultana Safiye. The one who's coffin - of those 19 brothers killed - was empty, according to what this Sultana said at one stage in the film. I understood vagely, that they managed somehow to save him, but then something must have happened, that made them think he died afterwards. Only a feeling I have, but I may be wrong.

Agree. Beren is a powerful actress. Especially she nailed the role of mother mourning for Mehmed. And so is Nurgul. Anastasia wasn't a good actress but that's okay she's young. They probably chose her to demonstrate the Greek ethnicity and accent. But all along she has a weird confused sad and discomforting expression on her face which is difficult to watch but okay maybe kosem was getting used to the environment of the palace 😅

Surprised they changed the main character unceremoniously. Not against changing actors throughout the seasons if the storyline calls for it but this one looks unspontaneous and forced. I don't care if the new one is the most popular actress in Turkey, that's immaterial. She could have been put in the storyline when Nasia is already in her 20's and has kids. Plus she should stay blonde with a scar depression on her forehead. That way, we non-Turkish fans of the series, wouldn't get lost in the plot. Be that as it may, I'm still watching. Looking forward to the older Kosem"s first appearance on the series. Watching short clips of her on YT got me watching this show in the first place. Don't mind if she didn't stay blonde. She's got the same icy, piercing eyes as the original Anastasia.

I think the other actress came in earlier than planned beacuse the ratings of this show in Turkey started to drop and the second actress is really famous and beloved in Turkey. But if you don't mind a small spolier the original/ first anastasia comes back in the last episodes to haunt older kosem as she thinks about her life choices.

Good concept. However, sadly this isn't how the immune system works. You see, it begins producing antibodies when we get sick. In the sultan's case, he was already at a late stage of infection, a small amount of extra antibody wouldn't have been enough because the virus had already advanced too far. After all, the old woman used magic, so he survived 😁 In Mustafa's case, he had a good chance of surviving even without the magical cure. Children's bodies are very flexible in terms of health and their immune system produces antibodies very fast.

Anybody feel like Ahmed jumped to conclusions when he accused Safiye of replacing him? He may have not realized it, but he was literally at death's door from smallpox. Everyone had no way of knowing if he was going to live or die, and given Smallpox is extremely lethal, he was more than likely going to die. And at this point in time, he had no actual children. Yeah, one of the concubines was pregnant, but in this era they had no way of knowing if the baby was a boy or a girl. If Mafiruze had given birth to a girl, then she wouldn't be allowed to ascend to the throne. So, if Ahmed had died with no declared heir, and had a daughter been born, that would leave Mustafa as the only legal claim to the throne. What did Ahmed expect them to do: just sit on their hands hoping for a miracle? Because if he had died and he had no recognized heir, then the Empire would of been in serious trouble. The Giray brothers would be enough of a problem as it was since they say they have an ancient claim to the throne. But since Mustafa is also a son of the late Sultan Mehmet and brother to Ahmed, he would seen as the rightful heir. Thus a civil war could start over factions aiming for the throne of the Ottoman Empire. Even Suleiman didn't act like this when he heard rumors about people conspiring to put his son Mustafa on the throne when he was seriously ill. He heard all sides of the story and allowed people to defend their actions even if it was obvious they were lying. He also tried to be as fair in dealing with these people as he could. Yeah, he executed a few notable traitors but the rest he let go with a stern warning. It wasn't until he caught wind of rumors of people actually trying to overthrow home or get rid of heir apparent Selim did Suleiman actual deal with the traitors harshly. Point I am trying to make is Ahmed should of at least tried to see things from Safiye's perspective. Then he would understand that, while probably not the best way to handle things, she had good intentions and was truly thinking about the Empire. If he had, then Safiye wouldn't of been so set on trying to get rid of him because she was tired of his BS.

Bruh In Hurrem case, they at least wait to the end of the 3rd season and act like she was kidnapped that kinda feels okay when she came back looking different. But this time it's so unnatural, bruh.
