A lot of these women and children were never truly "evil" as patriarchal history describes them. They were all people/pawns in desperate situations having to choose "It's either you or me" with some wiser than the others to work the situation best they can to not end as horribly as their predecessors. Even so, both still suffering in one way or another regardless due to the every shifting moods of the "men" in charge around them and they all at his mercy.

@@GlanceOfPast The Ottoman society was a different society compared to the Turkish societies. While learning the religion they also mixed the Arab culture into it. @@GlanceOfPast Oh , you must have been exhausted by the journey , I suggest you to bestow some much needed rest upon your body . And yeah you're absolutely right , Mahidevran Hatun and Catalina De Argon are the soul of this song and I love and pity on both of them , but I think you shouldn't have included Princess Mara Brankovic in this compilation because I think this song is for those women who were oppressed due to the normalisation of male infidelity but Princess Mara Brankovic never cared about her husband's infidelity and she was his most influential wife too , as the saying goes by *" I don't need a man by my side to shine when my personality is as glorious as the sun itself "* But still a great edit ....

@@jagritikumari4012 Yeah I get what you are saying, I also thought it would be out of place to include her but shd was still treated as a puppet and a pawn by her family, forced to marry someone from a different religion and was basically a trade to ensure her family's and country's peace. She was strong enough and also lucky to live her life on her own terms after Murad's death so obv she IS probably the one who got the best deal and life of all the women included in the video but do think it was appropriate to include her.
@jagritikumari40123 ай бұрын
@@GlanceOfPast I agree with you on the fact that she was used as a pawn for political alliances by her family but she was also very influential in her husband's Murad II's reign even before her son's Mehmed 's reign and worked as a mediator between Ottomans and Serbs and not only this but as the daughter of the Serbian Despot and the wife of the Ottoman Sultan , Mara was predestinied for the role of mediator between Serbia and the Ottoman Empire . Mara had more and more influence during 1440s . In 1447 , when the people of Dubrovnik got into trouble in Edrine during negotiations with Murad II to conclude a new trade agreement , Princess Mara , on the request of her father , helped to reach an agreement . She also lived like a orthodox Christian in Sultan Murad 's harem , following her faith devotionally without facing any problems and wasn't belittled for her faith by anybody in imperial palace . Though , she did suffered only a few times, like when Murad II ordered her brothers , Grgur and Stefan to be blinded by gouging out their eyes for trying to lead a crusade against Ottoman Sultan along with their father Despot Durad Brankovic and even though she fell on her knees and begged him not to hurry for God's sake , due to being late in the arrival of messanger her brothers were already blinded . She was also sent to Bursa from Edirne by her husband . But apart from it she lived comfortably and as his most influential wife .
