My contention with Mustapha --and quite honestly, an indication of poor leadership skills, is that he never stopped these supporters. The moment he knew about their existence, he should've called a meeting to immediately disband them! Option #1 should have been to report these factions to the Sultan. That way, no one could hold it over him. Keeping it quiet is the same as accepting their support/existence. He seemed to like the adoration and enjoyed the perks that came with their support. This is what ended him.

What ended Mustafa was Hurrem’s evil plot with Rustem to make Suleiman believe that Mustafa conspired with Suleiman’s enemy, the Persians, by falsifying letters between Mustafa and the Persians, with the help of Rustem and Hurrem’s daughter who stole Mustafa’s insignia, when in fact Mustafa never communicated with the Persians at all. This was in the letter of Mustafa that he carried in his chest that he had always been loyal to Suleiman and was never guilty of any treacherous act before he was assassinated by Suleiman because he was aware of the possibility that Suleiman might have him killed. So, the truth is, Mustafa was a great hero marching to his death aware that his father might have him killed. It’s a grave injustice to Mustafa to label him as a traitor when he sacrificed his life!

The eclipse made everyones heart to change. The music, cinematography of the eclipse is mind-blowing. One father (Mustafa) wants to save his son but couldn't save it himself without help of tascichili and one father (Suleiman) couldn't save his son from the fate. Crying and looking for help as he himself has to kill them as he has no other go. Wow!! I have watched this eclipse episode in awe. Such a masterpiece

I believe Mustafa would have eventually killed his brothers and married off Mehrimar to someone far away. He would have had to, because eventually one or both of his brothers would want the throne and rise up to take it. It’s almost always what happens. Factions and intrigue take over even without involvement from Hurram. Mustafa talked a good talk, but he also did very little to discourage his ardent supporters and subtly encouraged them.

But if you can think logically, it isn't hard to figure out that disposing his father off the throne wasn't hard for him at all, if he wished to do so that is. The army was on his side from his teen years, he didn't have to wait till his late 30s to do it. And even more so why would he want to rely on the already faltering Safavid empire while he had such strong influence over the internal power? I am not sure how true it is, but one story was that Rustem pasha convinced the Prince to join his father with his army for the ongoing campaign and he agreed. While on the other hand Rustem convinced the Sultan that Mustafa was drawing close with his Army to dispose him off the throne. This was seen as the uprising and his execution was ordered in a haste. Now this is just a story that hasn't been proved but it's very evident who benefitted the most from his death.

It's sad that this happened to Mustafa but it wasn't unprovoked or for dumb revenge like Mahidevran killing Mehmet. Hurrem knows Mahidevran killed her son purely for no reason, since Mustafa had the most support and the age right to the throne anyway. Mehmet didn't have to die, that was cold blooded murder. So killing Mustafa to take revenge was of course part of why Hurrem did the same to her, but for Hurrem it was also to make sure her sons wouldnt be executed. Since Mahidevran killed Mehmet when she had no reason to, it was certain she'd kill the rest of them once Suleiman was gone. So even though cold, Hurrem was in the right here.

i don't think i can agree with the way cihangir is portrayed in this series, he always loved mustafa the most while he spent time with others of his siblings, especially mihrimah who taken the role of his mother while hurrem was kidnapped by hatice sultan. they certainly put in so much more efforts to him than mustafa because mustafa was out for his province. just because he doesn't feel like he's disable when he's with mustafa just isn't enough for this much excessive love.

Mehidvran was right on point telling Mustafa that Mehirmahs visit was too suspicious. She suddenly wanted to Visit Mustafa but after she stole his signature from his ring...she didnt care at all about the brither who treated them all with live and guided them to the right way. Mustafa has always been innocent and followed the law but his death brought a wrath of major pain to Hurrem and the Sultan. A life for a life. The Empire was destroyed and royals scattered to different parts of the world because God turned his back on the power that rise and fall over greed and selfishness all caused by Hurrem. His decision was as a king not as a father. He has seen his father kill everyone. It is foolish to assume that a king brings so many sons into the world and then executes them all just on a whim there has to be reason and there is but most comments are just high on emotions and it's okay 🙂 I guess you don't know about history but *these decisions were made as a king not as a father* If Suleiman didn't execute arrogant ambitious princes like Mustafa and Bayezid then they would have taken help from janissary or other forces to usurp throne. In case you forgot Mustafa was given chance two times - Suleiman forgave his mistake twice when he went on pirate ship and started building navy when Suleiman was on campaign.Even Bayezid did rebellious things and was given a chance but later he was executed too. Third time Mustafa' s mistake (trap) was very serious hence the execution. You do realise that the king represent a huge empire - about two continents plus a few areas so letting sons do whatever they wanted to would be ending the empire.

Suleiman knew that a dangerous precedent was being set because of the support Mustafa accepted and received. If it wasn’t stopped, then any time a certain group was unhappy with the current Sultan, all they had to do was rally around prince who they wanted to be the next ruler. Then they could overthrow the current ruler and the power is theirs. Mustafa was put in a impossible position though. On the outset, he really did seem to be the most capable, but we don’t know if this was true or because of powerful people/groups who supported him. There is also the fact that he was considered a true Muslim with no hint of convert in his blood. A lot of people wonder if the Ottoman’s would continued to conquer had Mustafa become Sultan? It’s unlikely, because they already had peace treaties with the Hapsburgs, Venetians, etc. Also, had Mustafa gained the throne by fratricide, he more than likely would be overthrown by groups who were unhappy with him and who supported his own princes.

Mustafa would have become sultan at age 51 if he survived and waited for Suleiman to die, after peace treaties with the west and pointless wars in Persia. There would be no Pargali, Barbaros, or Malkocoglu to help him either. The ottomans were also destined for economic stagnation and decline without access to the new world.

My contention with Mustapha --and quite honestly, an indication of poor leadership skills, is that he never stopped these supporters. The moment he knew about their existence, he should've called a meeting to immediately disband them! Option #1 should have been to report these factions to the Sultan. That way, no one could hold it over him. Keeping it quiet is the same as accepting their support/existence. He seemed to like the adoration and enjoyed the perks that came with their support. This is what ended him.
