The irony is that, in reality, there was no such rule or tradition. In fact, Hürrem was specifically elevated (through freedom, marriage, and the creation of the Haseki Sultan title) after Hafsa's death in order to take over as the head of the harem and senior woman of the dynasty. Still unsure why the show decided to change the timeline so much and have this happen instead.

How do you think they'd make 300 episodes of 1+ hour each if they shoot according to the real history. They made up many things up.

There were no hatice ibrahim either

@@ish_14 I mean, for starters the "real history" was plenty dramatic enough 🤷There are some outright gaps in the historical record for which things need to be invented, sure, but this is some outright messing with the timeline that actually makes for some weird, bad writing hence why I question the choice for it.
@Redluna32Ай бұрын
@@ish_14 Honestly, trying to bring up Hatice's marriage to Ibrahim isn't really comparable to this situation since, for a considerable amount of time, it _was_ believed to be true. It's only in recent memory that it was debunked.

@@Redluna32The messing with the TL is essential for the characters(not the historical personages). If Hurrem immediately gets married and becomes Haseki after Valide dies, then it appears that Suleiman only did this as to have a woman in charge of the harem. That may be true but it is boring and underwhelming for this great/complicated love story that the show is trying to portray. Having Hurrem gain power and thus revenge through increments makes the show more interesting. Also, Mahidevran’s temporary management of the harem further under scores how woefully unprepared she is to step into the role of Valide Sultan. Also it’s Hurrem’s biggest nightmare come true.

Suleyman gave the Harem to Mahidevran as a test. She fails spectacularly.

That's only limited. It never happened irl tho mahidevran never ruled the imperial harem

This woman was kidnapped and brought to a foreign land for the purpose of getting noticed and producing babies. What modern people called trafficked. Then in order to survive the circumstances she had to do whatever was necessary and be just as cunning, manipulative, and scheming as the other women. Hurrem was forced to play their game and won. How is she a monster for winning?
@vicskinnyleggs4283Ай бұрын
If you say Hurrem was a monster for playing a game that they started and winning by becoming a wife instead of a wh0re, then you must have lost the game and is no more than just another concubine
