"I wanted to live. I wanted my branches to grow and start to bloom. But you did not let me." By killing herself Gevherhan was acting upon what she saw as her one and only option to exercise autonomy over her own life, even if it meant ending it. Asli Tandogan delivered a very sensitive and poignant performance as Gevherhan during her time in the series.

Rip Geverhan now we have only Atike... It was not because she was weak she killed herself. It is because she was tired of having no control over her life. And especially the fact that she told the truth about Murad in the front of everyone and was defiant to the end . She was far braver than Silahtar. With her death it was the beginning of the end for her brothers and Kosem. She would have been so much more helpful than Atike and would perhaps have succeeded in forcing Kasim to settle his account with Bayezid ( she would explain to Kasim that the threat of Murad IV was much bigger than Bayezid's mother and they should teamed up for them to survive ), help his mother against Gulbahar and in the event that Ibrahim would become Sultan would not be blind to his faults and would really do everything so that he reigns correctly unlike Atike. She might even have succeeded in stopping her mother's mistakes. :(

tbh with you, this is all because of atike. First of all, if a guy has no feelings for you, then let him be. Atike could have realized that, and stop bothering him. But she did not. She thought of herself and kept on trying even when she found out that he liked Gevherhan and still blamed it on her even though silahtar was in love with her in the first place. Then she tells Murad and acts like it's gevherhan's fault. When really, she would never do that and only followed her heart. So in conclusion, we now know the cause of Gevherhan's death. So if there's anyone you wanna blame, go blame Atike.

I understand well Geverhan. First, they marry her off to pash Topal, who is much older than her (în The series, don't know the real life) and she was forced în that marriage. Then she eventually falls inlove with him and has a kdis, while he has antoher secret separate family hidden. She has to deal with the decision her family made for her, and anfetr findining some happiness în it, her familiy comes back again and takes that always from her. Then she receive another blow from finding out her life with Topal Pasha was a lie. And the final blow, when she finally fell inlove again, her family once more interfered, and once mroe took that away from her. This would be mroe than enough to make someone crumble and also deseprately trying to take control back în any form possible. Not to mention she felt her family never really care of her, she was constantly pushed aside and her life turned upside down by her own family everytime she would find a stabilit, while Atike being younger received all she wanted. No one ever saw her until she killed herself, everyone was just assuming she could take everything they throw at her. And she is also the example of "no matter how much you please others ți will never be enough, so live your own life". Unfrotunatelly she lived în an era where that wasn't really possible, but 8 think by killing herself she finally shows them she can stand up for herself too. How unfortunatelly was this character truly.

Murad could have avoided all this if he exiled silhtar andcsend him away to some province But his actions and farya playing with him Led to catastrophic actions Poor geverhan She is better ways than atike as a sister and more pure Actually too pure for this world Also nur gul acting chapeau On top

Nope! It was easier, he need to allow Geverhan marry Silahtar, and all of this would have ended!!!!

This is why I believe Kosem having Silhtar and Farya wasn't just to get them out of the way, it was also to punish Murad and Atike for Gevherhan and Ayse's kids deaths.

Killing herself didn't mean she was weak. She was sending a message to Murad that she will not be controlled. It's her life why should be forced to marry any randomer whilst the one she actually loves marries her sister???

I don't understand why the film makers decided to make some fictional plotlines, it didn't happen in history, thank god, but they wasted the potential to make Gevherhan more interesting. They shouldn't have killed her off and instead should have given her a bigger role, but no, they killed her same way as Handan 🙄. They decided to copy Game of thrones with all the unessesary deaths
@joycliffe2662 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I liked Asli in the role, I found her performance quite moving. However, like you I think that the film makers could have made Gevherhan's character more interesting and given her more room to grow. I think Asli would have been up to the challenge.

I'm not going to lie, I have mixed feelings about Geverhan committing suicide. On the one hand, I get where she is coming from about not being able to choose for herself. And I totally understand her anger at her sister for ruining her love life. On the other hand, I can't help but feel like she's being a hypocrite. When her first husband was executed, she cried about how her son is without a father. Yet she goes ahead and kills herself leaving her son an orphan with a span of one to two years. Not to mention she doesn't even give Kemankes a chance. She should know him well enough to know he would never mistreat her. He serves her mother and is obviously in love with Kosem. He would never do anything to hurt her daughter and treat her and her son kindly. And Kemankes doesn't come across as the type to force Geverhan, or any women in general, to sleep with him if she didn't want to. Or harm them if she said something to make him angry. It's a completely different situation than that of Mihrimah and Rustem, where he, on top of wanting her since she was a literal child, emotionally manipulated her and even abused her a few times. But the marriage between Kemankes and Geverhan was simply one of convenience and, if she had actually gave it a chance, it might of reaped some benefits down the road.
