A dress code should have been followed if he was given notice well in advance. It is an international event. If he had insufficient notice, it is the organizer’s fault.

The rules are there period. It is a simple dress code. If players have issues with that they should resolve the issue with FIDE in a mature professional way using proper channels. And not act like a 5yr old brat having tantrums for no reason

The reason for this stupid rule is that FIDE has monopoly over chess.We need a alternate chess body to rival FIDE.I hope the Saudis make an alternative chess body just like they did with golf by making Liv Golf.

It's evidence of stupidity when responsible inside fide demand that really Smart people have to dress up like themselves in a sport, they don't understand that people with higher IQ don't need to prove anything with clothes 🙂 Chess player's show everyone even without any clothes that they have something between their own ear's except only air, they choose modern sporty clothes that they feel comfortable in. Cheese is a good sport for everyone, you just can't kick anybody out from a competition like this because they don't follow your own clothes codes 😡
@TheoTugnao3 сағат бұрын
On the contrary only stupid people believe that having a dress code is a stupid rule. If you think FIDE put a dress code rule so that people will look like them is more idiotic. FIDE being a "world governing body of chess" simply wants to maintain professionalism towards the game and the tournaments they are organizing. If players don't agree with that either they file a complaint and resolve this like mature individuals or better yet form another Chess organization that does not have dress code rules. Even fast food workers have dress codes. Is it ok with you seeing a crew cooking your food wearing just sandos because they say it's hot in the kitchen???
@anondodasgupta52753 сағат бұрын
First of all he wasnt disqualified. He withdrew. Every sport has a dress code. Wimbledon has a different dress code roo from other events. If a rule is there, you follow it else file an appeal against the rule well in advance.

Stupid outdated rule that will now set off a massive power play between the top players and FIDE. He told them he would change for the next day after the fine. Does FIDE pay all the chess players, or do they get their £££ from other tournaments now?

To those who think dress code rules are stupid. Tell Palki and other Firstpost reporters to just wear t-shirts and slippers while reporting the news. Like if Firstpost management has a dress code does that mean they are stupid also like FIDE?
@Leo19643 сағат бұрын
Jeans are business casual. Although it was against the dress code, he did not dress in a way that looked inappropriate or unprofessional unlike a t-shirt and slippers. FIDE's enforcement is also based on material and not appearance as they let another player carry on wearing trousers that looked like jeans. This makes FIDE's dress code rule stupid as rules made to set a standard for image is instead heavily enforced simply because it was the wrong type of fabric.

“Rules” should be reasonable and must have "good purpose". 1. Reasonableness: Unreasonable rules often lead to unhappiness, frustration, and even harm. Rules should be based on universal principles of fairness, justice, and respect for individual rights. Arbitrary rules often violate these principles. 2. Purpose: Rules should not be ends in themselves but rather means to achieve desirable outcomes. Rules that serve no legitimate purpose, such as promoting the common good or protecting individual rights, are considered unjust. • Rules should be grounded in reason and serve a clear, beneficial purpose. • They should not be arbitrary or overly restrictive, as this can lead to: o Violations of individual rights and freedoms o Creating a climate of distrust and resentment
