Perhaps it's time to re-think the tournament rules surrounding etiquette and fair play. Everyone has been late to a commitment they've made-traffic, weather, personal emergencies... Stuff happens. But anybody that's late with this sort of consistency is doing it with intention. I'm a fan of Magnus... but I'm also a fan of sportsmanship. If losing clock time isn't a great enough deterrent then maybe it's time to start counting these no-shows as losses. I bet he'd manage to be at the board and ready for the next round.

⁠@@revenantronin8377I think the suggestion is pretty clear: add a rule related to no-show. For example, after XY minutes of being late, you do not lose clock time, you lose the game. I think it’s an interesting idea.

@@elbasta It's in the FIDE regulations for the chess olympiad 2024. Section 4.7.3. Default time is 15 minutes. Any player who arrives at the chessboard after the default time loses the respective game.

When you are late to a chess game, they don't wait for you, the clock starts running, so the opponent will have more time than him. It's not so bad and relatively common.
