Such an odd timeline we live in. The world chess champion (the real one) wears a hoodie that says "SWAG."

Strange question but why is his English so good that he thinks out loud in it?
@Iceman219
@Iceman219 29 күн бұрын
He's from Norway which is a country that is quite proficient in English. Pretty common for them to be bilingual, and Magnus is speaking English for the stream (international viewers, so it makes sense to speak English rather than Norwegian)
@Fergus316
@Fergus316 21 күн бұрын
The Vikings invaded England at one point so I believe English and Norwegian are closer than some other languages.
@KeizerEz
@KeizerEz 20 күн бұрын
@@Fergus316English is a Germanic language, with heavily borrowed vocabulary from the Latin languages due to being conquered by the French. In terms of closeness to other Germanic languages, it is probably closest to Dutch.

still insane that magnus takes the time to see that. total board vision in that sequence. probably because hes had a number of famous games where some random qxa7 or rxa7 at the end of calculations has come into play. its probably just a pattern that in these big capture chains he should check on those rooks on the open files every time.

It's fascinating how people can hold long games against Magnus when playing online, regardless of rating differences. This makes me believe there might be truth to some of Kramnik's cheating allegations.
@Estrachon
@Estrachon 20 күн бұрын
Accusing someone of cheating solely because they perform well or ‘last a long time’ against a strong opponent is not a fair or evidence-based statement. Robert Fontaine is a Grandmaster, a title that reflects years of hard work, skill, and dedication. It’s not uncommon for Grandmasters to hold their own against the world’s best, even if they ultimately lose. Without concrete evidence, such accusations are baseless and disrespectful to the integrity of the game.

They are GMs, you are overrestimating Carslen skills, he is probably the GOAT, but any mistake against a GM is fatal to him

this is a weird video to post this on, considering the player with the white pieces plays an exchange french here. explosive early wins are not likely even if you are literally magnus carlsen.

The exchange French is a very drawish opening for both sides. Magnus squeezed a win even though his opponent played for a draw
