How many times do we get to witness Magnus Carlsen making a massive blunder and then smiling? This happened at the Global Chess League when Carlsen's SG Alpine Warriors faced off against Aronian's Triveni Continental Kings. And what an interesting game this was. Check it out with the commentary and analysis of IM Sagar Shah.

If you wonder why magnus doesn't play his g5 knight to e4 so he can protect levon knight to c3, is because levon can move his knight to b4, , and if magnus response move his c2 pawn to c3 then d4xc3 and its completely checkmate for magnus for 4 step

If he played on 28. c4 Nc3+ 29. Ka1 Nxe2 30. Rxe2 Rxf5 would have been pretty much forced line Black has Queen + passed pawn against rook . On GM level ( and even in 2000 level ) white position is impossible to hold. Of course it may take a while to convert it, but great players usually dont like to play nasty royal knight forks and 100 % lost endgames thru. To shake hands is easier .
