There's so many people saying he just caused more trouble by making them move back, but I think that misses an important aspect of tournament play, and that is playing on higher (ie lower number) boards is a big deal....playing on board 1 is a big deal. His explanation to the arbiter was couched in practical terms that gave them a reason to acquiesce, but the actual affront to the players wasn't the fuss of moving at all, so I think this act of deference was actually a genuine a sign of respect.

If the TV cameras set up on the wrong table, not sure why the *players* have to be messed around. Well done, Magnus.

his sportsmanship can be met only by his chess talent. what a guy! same happened the next day i think when duda was late for the game and arbiter wanted to start his clock but magnus declined so that duda can start with full time on a clock.

Chess players are brutally honest about what is right, when they screw up, when their opponent plays better. There's no hiding place or blagging room like there is in other sports. Magnus is just doing what is right. Nothing more
