1. Arjun stood up slightly when Magnus came - that shows respect for World No. 1 2. His legs were literally shaking at the start 3. Arjun gave couple of glances at Magnus after the game, thinking he would discuss the game (may be).. but he is too shy to start a conversation … No worries Arjun.. one day you will be on the Champion’s seat.. Keep going !!

Erigaisi tries to standup when Magnus arrives, fist bumps 2 times before starting the game, arranges all pieces in the end, lets Magnus sign the slip first, waits till he goes, and leaves only after him. Proper Indian manners✅👏

for someone wondering the next move, and why its a draw. rook takes promote queen, pawn c4 trade. and rook had to trade a pawn. I think magnus had slightly chance to win this, due time limit, even a superGM can make a mistake in that time. but if arjun force to trade rook to pawn, then its a draw by material.

Excellent Game!! I'm a bit curious to know what could have happened, 11:37 if after White's 1. Rb7 , black played 1. ...Rh8 first before directly playing 1. ...h2 . Would it still be a draw ?
@onii-chansenpai624
@onii-chansenpai624 2 жыл бұрын
Still draw. If black played Rh8 then Magnus played Ra7 to Ra1.
@Rizalpahlevi21
@Rizalpahlevi21 Жыл бұрын
It's draw.. 1. Magnus had to check or treating the pawn, black got no choice and have to let go the pawn or let the king trapped infront of pawn 2. In this sense neither will let go the pawn, because if black let go his pawn, it's his lose, and vice versa.. So both dont have choice than keep repeating stuck in that move, both know this and suggesting draw.. Black also lose if choose to trap his king infront of the pawn, even if the white rock cant move, 2 white pawn and king vs black rock and pawn, its black lose.. Its automatic draw as well the moment he lose his black pawn and rock, (cant move)

If I’m not missing anything, I think Magnus should have played a3 instead c3. That c3 gave black the opportunity to play Nd3 and compromised white’s optimum attack organization at the very back rank.

Can someone explain why Arjun accepted a draw? He seemed to have a better position than Carlsen when the game ended and the time difference wasn't much b/w both players.
@hirak16

After b5 black promotes h1=Q then Rxh1, Kxh1 and then c4. This is met with dxc4, Kxc4 then black gets back his rook by playing Rd1 intending to put the rook behind the passed b pawn. Then b6 Rb1 followed by Kc5. Then Rxb6 Kxb6 and it's a draw.

Another way that is a little bit easier is magnus will just go rg7 and if the king moves away from the pawn then just go rh7 back and forth and there’s not really a way to make progress for either side

I think Magnus should have made some sort of a friendly comment at the end before leaving. Arjun keeps looking at him but since he won, out of respect, he doesn’t want to say anything. But I bet if he lost he would have made some sort of a friendly comment, good game or thank you or whatever. But the main thing is that as a rule of politeness, unless you hate the person that much, when you leave you are suppose to always make some kind of a friendly gesture, talk to u later, take care, it was a good game etc.
