I think it is interesting to point out how computers have really shifted our outlook of a game's result. Maybe the tendency is that now we look at mistakes and blunders more often than we look at "brilliant" moves. Likely because of computer analysis. A computer would never put an exclamation point ! and say a move is a wow move. Just thought it was an interesting topic to open from a psychological standpoint.
@nrojorn8 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. Also, you often hear the commentators praise moves at first, but after seeing the blunder with the help of a computer they bash on the players as if they missed an obvious move. It's hard to be perceived as a brilliant player when the spectators have computer analysis at hand.

On the whole move 20 thing: In the press conference Carlsen said he immediately saw the forced draw after he made the move 20.Nd2 (you could see he was surprised/relieved when d5 came during the live broadcast) , while Karjakin still hadn't seen it post game and when asked about it he said he saw Nxf2, but didn't see a good follow up (probably didn't see Nh4+). They discussed it in detail in the press conference afterwards if you're interested. Enjoying the summaries, Jerry!

At the press conference after the game you saw that Karjakin missed the draw opportunity. When Carlsen explained it to him, Karjakin looked like he was going to faint for about two seconds, before composing himself and continuing analyzing the game.

I love your commentary, Jerry. You point out almost every nuance along the way, most of them I have no idea about, such as the bishop "staring off into space" at 6:32. Not intuitive, but rather obvious in hindsight. I'm really becoming a better player from your videos.

After Karjakins "mistakes" when he missed the draw opportunity Carlsen's play seemed immaculate to me. It's been a long time since I last saw impressive game like this one, very well played from both players. Thanks for covering it Jerry!

Yes, that endgame was amazingly subtle. I wonder if Carlsen is trying to squeak too much out of his less than mainstream openings, and having trouble outplaying Karjakins impressive sense of defense.

Hey Jerry, always love your vids. I watched the game live and at move 62 Nd5 I noticed that you were focussed on the evaluation dropping. This is not something im used to hearing/seeing from you, the twitch chat was spamming blunder at first and you kind of went with it. I prefer the stream to be without eveluation especially right after a move is made. Look at it with logic, not with computers :) it ruins the magic. This is just meant as some kind of feedback, I appreciate you work+ stream. For me personally the use of computers in chat really sucks, makes me wish they didnt exsist.
