Magnuson Supercharger for 2014 GM Sierra and Silverado 5.3L Direct Injection trucks

We put our new Magnuson Radix DI Supercharger for the 2014 Silverado and Sierra 5.3L Direct Injection GM Pickup trucks on the dyno, and make some whoppin' power increases - we add 108hp for a total of 414hp, using our 7psi pulleys on our EO-pending emissions legal tune.

Wow really people, do you now know how a dyno works? It reads the HP at the wheels. 355 is at the crank. and you have about 13 percent drivetrain loss.

I thought the new 5.3 had 355 hp stock too. At least thats what mine is supposed to have. 305 is way below what theyre advertising if thats the case. Which is misleading.

Guys what they advertise is flywheel horsepower. The 308 is wheel horsepower, you have to account for the losses in the drive train. So there is about 13% loss from the flywheel of the engine to the contact patch of the tires. If they are putting down 414whp the engine should be putting out around 475 flywheel horsepower.

Hi Dan. You are right that the stock 2014 5.3L Silverado has 355/383 at the flywheel, but you have to subtract for drivetrain loss. Dynos measure at the rear wheels (or the front wheels for front wheel drive vehicles) after this drivetrain loss has taken its toll, and although vehicles vary with regard to loss, 15% is probably not very far off here. The numbers look right. I have a ProCharger supercharger (centrifugal, variable 0-8 lbs. of boost) on this very same setup that measures right at 440/490 on the dyno. I don't have ready access to the data sheets, as there were changes with tuning, but those are the rough numbers. I opted for a towing tune, as I tow a small fifth wheel and wanted to optimize low-end torque. Note that the ProCharger setup comes with a Diablo tuner. I don't use my 5500 lb truck to race (although it's fast!); it's simply a tool. If you take into account the loss that occurred, my flywheel hp is right at 500 and the torque figure would be somewhere in the 550-560 range. This is a somewhat educated guess, but it cannot be very far off. Of course, you have to take into account altitude and the consequential variance of oxygen levels, but at sea level these numbers look right. Unfortunately, my installer did not do a "before" pull, so I have no starting reference point, but the numbers are probably accurate.
