The amount of work it took for each song for you to be able to make this at all is wild. Especially with RtDL Deluxe, that game has multiple extensive orchestral medleys with so much happening, to the point where I'm cool with songs like Onward to a Pain My Heart Knows Well being left alone. I love how much elbow grease went into telling Magolor's story in this dude, it made Supreme Ruler's Coronation - OVERLORD that much sweeter Personally, this came out at a really intriguing time. Return to Dream Land's OST means a lot to me, as it was when Hirokazu Ando started to become the leader of Kirby music. Ando's my favorite composer of all time, he has an eclectic style that I adore (I'll refrain from talking even longer about this.) RtDL was almost like a bombastic intro to the Ando era, and a farewell to the Jun Ishikawa era; ever since RtDL, Ando has made more contributions to Kirby music in general than Ishikawa. I bring all this up because recently, it was revealed in Japan's "Kirby and the Forgotten Land Complete Soundtrack" release that Jun Ishikawa is no longer a HAL Laboratories employee. You releasing this massive Return to Dream Land tribute so soon after the Ishikawa news dropped adds this melancholic aura to the whole thing. It personally left me thinking a lot about the HAL Labs Sound Team (in a good way.)

Dude, I cried. Actually cried during that last song. Oh my god, everything… just everything was perfect. The lyrics, the vocals, the absolute perfect interpretation of Magolor’s fears and regrets in that moment… I love this so much. The moment where Magolor loses full control during the True Arena fight is my all time favorite moment in the history of gaming, and seeing its hidden narrative be brought to life here is so cathartic, this is EXACTLY how I interpreted it all. I seriously didn’t think you could top the Mistilteinn cover, but here we are. Your understanding of Magolor’s character is impeccable. I will never stop replaying these covers. So from what I'm getting... Main story: The good timeline. Kirby destroys the Master Crown, and its remains are sent along with Magolor to the depths of Another Dimension. Magolor destroys it once and for all, goes to the Dream Kingdom. Then he goes back home, redeemed, and creates a theme park for all to enjoy. True Arena: The bad timeline. The Master Crown's power takes over Magolor almost completely, so any hope of him coming back from this is gone. Kirby defeats the Master Crown, sending it through the portal- and Magolor along with it, doomed to remain a puppet forever. Extra Mode: The caffeine timeline. Magolor ingests unbelievable amounts of caffeine, nullifying the Master Crown's possession, but because of this, his mental state only decreases further and further.

Perhaps the difference between CROWNED and OVERLORD that hurt the most to hear was how in CROWNED it's "If I make it out, I want you to know: I am so very sorry...", because in that fight Magolor knows full well that Kirby's going to win, and there's still a small chance for himself to be saved. But in OVERLORD, it's "If *you* make it out", because Magolor knows that Kirby is the only one making it out of this one.

I was not expecting that last song to be into this collection. I thought it was gonna be the Unfair Magolor Soul one. But no, Juno snuck in one new song in there. One that I've been dying to see. That being Supreme Ruler's Coronation. And honestly, I love it! It goes so well with what's happening in the True Arena fight of Magolor Soul. IT may know it's an unforgivable evil, but that's because it was literally created by the universe to do so. it cannot fathom wanting something else, and has no choice. so seeing someone who has that choice actively seek out its darkness, it's confused, it can't understand what its appeal is, and above all... it's not happy. it doesn't want this, but its instinctive lust for darkness and oblivion pushes it into corruption and it leans into that, if only to punish the traitor, which at this point, IT'S wearing HIM under itself. not the other way around.

Yo dude I just wanna say, I watched this whole video with my two 8 year old cousins recently after we beat all of Return to Dream Land just so I could teach them about the lore of the game, and they absolutely loved it, they understood everything that was happening surprisingly well and didn’t get traumatized, lol. Although they did keep stating how sorry they felt for Magolor 👍🏻 They kept asking me if there was more stuff like this when we finished, so I’ll definitely be showing them your Forgotten Land covers once we finish that game. When the premier was about to drop i pointed out the weird wing behind magalor in the thumbnail and the fact that i didnt recognize it. Juno said it was caffeine magalor and i accepted that, but it didnt feel quite right. I didn't check, but i was pretty sure the angle was off (the wing definitely wasn't in that spot taking up that much space), so i was hopeful that maybe it was something else. AND I WAS RIGHT!

Damn. What a crazy collection… I loved this a lot. Realizing just how Magolor feels being possessed by the crown just makes me like the final boss even more. C-R-O-W-N-E-D especially… that was what I was hoping for. Magolor apologizing to Kirby and begging to save and spare him because he doesn’t just want to be a puppet to the Master Crown is such an insane story arc. Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is probably my favorite in the series. Incredible work. Edit: The Magolor Soul fight too… that brought a tear to my eye. The crown’s literally forcing Magolor to say these harsh words to Kirby, and he doesn’t want to, but there’s nothing he can do to stop it. The fact that he’s cheering Kirby on to win the fight at this point, WHILE knowing his fate is sealed is incredible. And the fact that he doesn’t make it out alive in the end… that’s actually sad. This is the reason Magolor’s my favorite character in the Kirby franchise.

Although I had already felt sad after seeing people talk about the true arena boss fight and the ending, with this I felt genuinely sad for him, even though he made a mistake, he didn't deserve that, but unfortunately, there was nothing that was able to save his soul.

Okay, I have yet to share my thoughts on this definitive Magolor collection, but you actually cooked with this! That ending... the bad ending, I mean. My personal favourite songs are probably Mistleteinn (Tree Crown without a Ruler) and Supreme Ruler's Coronation - OVERLORD. The duality of these two songs (one being the good ending, the other being the bad ending) is really well done. With SRC - OVERLORD, I can just feel Magolor's pain, his regret, his suffering. The Master Crown actually consuming him, with the art changing to reflect Mag-Soul's new look is haunting. Yet, with the art of Magolor being crusified; combined with his real voice breaking free from the Crown's will, still gives some hope that he's still there, even if he has long since passed. I swear, Kirby games have sort of a thing for masking deaths and that in their games (Magolor Soul, Marx Soul splitting in half, Sectonia Soul, Haltmann, Leongar nearly dying in Forgotten Land and being possessed by Forgo, the list goes on). Yet the way you visualise and vocalise Magolor's demise is... bittersweet. Magolor knows that, even with the kind of demon the Master Crown has turned him into, he still holds out hope that Kirby can beat him, even begging Kirby to dream about the good times they could've possibly had if Magolor didn't decend to this level of subserviance to the Crown (mentioning his theme park, long walks across Green Greens, etc). Even though his current form is excrusiatingly hard to defeat, Magolor still encourages Kirby - not for forgiveness nor repentance, but to give Kirby the extra boost he needs to beat the monster that stole his body - the Master Crown. Meanwhile, the Crown just wants Magolor and Kirby to lie down and submit to them; and Ann's vocals acting as a layer to Magolor Soul's voice really helps to convey when he's been taken over, with the subtitles also changing to reflect this; and with Magolor's final line of "when you join the sky, maybe I'll be there..." it really brings home how, even in death, Magolor is fully accepting of what's happened, with his face showing him at piece, even while crucified. In summary: Juno is GOATED, these songs are GOATED; and we need more top tier lyricists like him and MOTI! 100/10, would still watch this, even if stranded in another dimention. Now, one moment of silence and one prayer to our lovely Magolor. May our dear magic boy rest in piece... 😔 🙏

I’m going to ramble on about this interpretation of Magolor’s soul even if it’s not canon. Firstly, love the voice given to the crown, is that only Juno’s voice? This is my favorite voice given to any dark matter, and we have MOTI’s Zero2. The art of Magolor being impaled on the heart spears? Spears implicated to being able to seal dark matter away, being used on Magolor (with blood!) with pink chains visually separating Magolor from Dark matter?? I love how the drawing comes in as Magolor speaks again, when prior he was completely lost to dark matter. Did the heart spears keep Dark matter away long enough for Magolor to regain part of himself? Could this bad end Magolor be saved if the Dark matter was fully sealed away? The crown taking the position of Judge, Jury, and Executioner to punish Magolor is really interesting to me. It almost seems like the crown is attacking Kirby as punishment for Magolor, destroying his last hope and friend. Is Magolor soul a bastardization of the crown’s original punishment for corrupt individuals before being taking over by dark matter? In the anime, Galaxia (the master sword) attacks and tries to kill people it finds “unworthy.” It’s interesting to think of an interpretation where the corruption of the wearer’s soul is actually by design as a defense against evil and unworthy people, but is given malicious intent by dark matter. Again, all of this is fanon interpretation, but it calls into question a very real question of how much of the crown is by design?
