Actually EOTechs are more rugged. The glass window can break and the EOTech optic will still function. Shorter battery life though. The aimpoints are really good and hard to break but if the lens cracks the red dot will not be visible.

Yes, however the broken window issue is their one and only advantage; maybe reticle too. For a long time, EOTechs have had issues with electrical problems due to the orientation of the batteries. Their longitudinal orientation wreaked havoc on the connections after a high volume of fire from recoil. This is fact is the reason the company flipped the battery 90 degrees on all of their new sights. Of all the carbine classes I've taken, I've only seen EOTechs go down. The Aimpoints always ran.
@Hiluxtaco14 жыл бұрын
The Aimpoint T-1/H-1 can be used on virtually anything; no matter the barrel length. Anything you can use a M2/ML2/M3/ML3/CompC3 on, you can use the T-1 on.. They are every bit as rugged as those older models..

The coast guard hitron sniper unit use EOTechs and close range scopes to disable go fast boats. That's why they are using the t1 on the Barrett.
@phonepimpbill14 жыл бұрын
@ThePhamine They'd hear the helicopter. The idea of having a silencer on there for that application is to minimize noise and blast affecting the person shooting it and those around them, not the target.

@BubbleGumNipples , it is the correct way to say "carbine" when referring to weaponry, both British and American English, I think.

If you are a Sniper and you have a weapons system that has a suppressor most likely you are not going to change your kit because you are typically only going to be in the helicopter for a short time and you are about to be on the move. As for the M249 that was suppressed Im sure that it was done for the video to keep the audio levels down for the pilot (Im guessing?) Heck it might even say why in the DVD, pick up the DVD and see what it says... then let me know

@Excalibur01 I doubt an ejected round will fly far enough to hit your own tail rotor and I highly doubt that a small spent cartridge like a 5.56 or a plastic 12 gauge shotgun shell will bend or do anything to a helicopter. On the other hand, as you probably know, a PMAG will screw stuff up for sure.

You'll notice that Aimpoints dominate the market. While there's a HUGE argument about this, the fact of the matter is, Aimpoints are simply more rugged and durable. However, EOTech is starting the reposition the orientation of the batteries on their new line of XPS sights to combat one of the issues they were having with the electrical contacts. But, the T-1, M3, M4 are still much more rugged and have battery lives measured in YEARS unlike just hours for the EOTechs.

Coast guard hitron snipers use aimpoints and eotechs on barretts to stop go fast drug boats. They engage at close range to insure hits on the engines. It's pretty effective.

@datzitteezy14 жыл бұрын
Your right that is a M2 or M3. I was looking at it on my iphone. kinda hard to see. I know that the t1 is buy aimpoint and EOTech makes the halo sights. But the USCG use the sights to stop drug go fast boats, their engaments are alot closer and they are shooting at the engines. In an earlier comment someone asked why they use the optics on a barrett. I was just stating that fact.
@Omega350ss14 жыл бұрын
@UBERGRIMKVLT Micro's cost more than M3's. The dot on the T-1 is 4 MOA the M2/M3 series comes in either 2 or 4 MOA M4 is 2 MOA. Yes the Comp M3 is more submersible. However the Comp M2 is not. The comp M4(S) is slightly more submersible than both buy about 5 feet or so. Battery life on the M2 is 1,000 to 10,000 though I've heard 30,000 is typical, M3 50,000, T-1 50,000, M4 80,000 T1 is 3 oz. M2 is 7.1 oz M3 is 7.8 m4 is a hefty 9.3 oz

@uaauaagh12 жыл бұрын
@krazykalash yeah with enough practice and training with that platform you can manipulate the weapon to your abilities as a shooter. if you notice high power optics arent preferred when operating on a moving vehicle or aircraft, red dot, holo or even iron sights are preffered with systems like the m82. you cant hit a target first itme or first day out shooting from an aircraft but do that for months then sooner or later youll hit your targets every time

@Gameballer420 lol, the coast guard does more than civilians think... i agree with you that practice is neccessary and what you practice is defined by what you may encounter- i see this training as a confidence builder and nothing else! what i meant by ill-equiped was that you have never been in a sittuation where we have- you are a civilian (cant wait to be one myself). yes high caliber rifle dont belong on a bird bc they dont, per say, dogfight- in the traditional sense of the word.

@boggypete013 жыл бұрын
@yougot90hot From my experience and research, using both firearms in a controlled environment and playing military simulation games such as paintball and airsoft, it seems as though the tactics advertised by Magpul are not only impractical, but could cost lives. Instead of focusing on quick movement from cover to cover, and any sensible soldier would, the Magpul instructors rarely use effective cover. In any sort of firefight, cover is your primary priority. That's common sense.

@Excalibur01 It's used for those who reload their ammo themselves so that they don't have to spend hours to pick up the brass. If you're in an urban environment, I don't think people (or police) would appreciate having random pieces of metal falling on top of them, but if it's in the wild, who cares? Personally, I think that there are only so many ways to ruin a helicopter, maybe by dropping a rifle mag in one from the top or shooting directly at the rotors.

I use both aimpoint an EOTech. Ive taken over 30 defensive courses cause I love taken them LOL. But I have never had that happen to me or seen it happen to anyone else. I've shot full auto with EOTechs and aimpoints: never had that issue. I perfer aimpoints but EOTechs are good. I got an EOTech 512 and the one with the bullet drop for the AR15. Easily put 50,000 rounds through it and never had an issue with mine. But we have had different expirence though. Mine has always been good with both.
