I use the Alligator - Alien 220mm rotors on my custom 50kg ebike. I have twin front rotors. I could feel the braking performance increase going from the original 200mm tektro rotors. I would say not only braking force was slightly increased but also modulation, there is more range of feel and relative force of braking with that feel. But mostly wanted to upgrade because DINNER PLATES!!!! ...... I gave my friend my old 200mm rotors to replace his 160mm magura disks and it is night and day in terms of performance increase, so even going from 160 to 200mm i would defo recommend.

I changed my Shimano Mt900 rotors to Magura Rotors (Storm HC) and i believe the shimano ones are shit. They are fragile, bend easily, they are way thinner and I don’t believe the ventilation system really helps that much since their aluminium core makes them so soft. The 2mm thickness of Magura rotors really make a difference.

I have been running these disks on my Turbo Levo for over a year, to better manage overheating on big downhills. This has worked well. However recently I have developed a warp that has now caused rubbing, on the rear disk. And I have tried bending it some, which has worked before on solid discs. I have now discovered the rivets are loose where the warp is and I believe this is enough to allow the disk to be slightly untrue. (If I figure out a way to tighten the rivits I would know) Anyway I am going to put a new disk on. I just wondered if you have an opinion on my theory. And would you consider this normal wear, which seems reasonable, considering how hard I ride thes rear brakes. The front disk is fine. Thanks (California, USA)
@jedmtb
@jedmtb 2 жыл бұрын
Your theory sounds plausible, a year sounds reasonable if you're riding hard on an e-bike as it's amazing how much heat they can generate. Nice bike btw.

You can try widening the dangling aluminum links with a hammer and plumb bob or similar metal tapered tool. The main thing is not to overdo it))

Magura MT7 Raceline with 220mm, doesn't feel that much of a difference over stock w/ 1 piston imo. It's not as Massive as the Brembo RCS19 on the R6 w/ SS lines. Huge difference.

I use this exact model of rotor with M7120 calipers. You just need to push your pistons as far back as possible and really dial in your caliper centering. You'll get brake rub for maybe 2-3 rides. Keep adjusting and then suddenly they all just click. The servo-wave mechanism helps in giving you more pad clearance in the caliper.
