I guess to each his own. I happen to love this version. I love Elvis, no doubt about it, but this is by far the sexier version. Eric puts his heart and soul into everything he does. Haven't heard anything by him yet I didn't like. He makes it his own. Loved it!!!

amazed that a comment felt that eric was not angry enough here....i never saw him more passionate coming to the close of the song. touch of janis joplin..alan price on keyboards really added to the song as did the sax....marvellous band.

@@Laiherself It was a dream come true for me to see the 5 original members of The Animals giving a great show. All dressed in a new similar suit, and me right there in front of them! What better venue they could find but the Royal Albert Hall!? I came especially from Belgium to be there. As a huge fan of Eric Burdon I just had to be there to see him with the full cast of The Animals. Alas they never came back together again and as 2 member died inbetween all I have is a memory of that wonderful concert in London.

What sort of cameraman and direction to focus on no one but Eric and Alan?

I think it's because of the subdued nature of most of the instrumentation of this song outside of Alan's keyboards, highlighted further by the pair of solos he has. The other songs that were filmed during this concert do a lot better at cutting to Chas/Hilton/Steve Grant throughout, even when the guitarists aren't doing a solo - I think for this song in particular, they wanted to keep the camerawork simple and intimate. I'm glad the '83 concert footage features Alan as much as it does, both because he's my favorite member and a lot of the videos shot of the Animals in the 60s didn't show Alan or Dave Rowberry a ton... still a decent amount, but more attention on the instrumentalists in the following recordings is always appreciated!! ESPECIALLY ON JOHN WHENEVER POSSIBLE, he deserves to be noticed so much more!!
