বাংলার সংগীত আকাশের উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র পরমশ্রদ্ধেয় শ্রীমতি ছবি বন্দোপাধ্যায়। ৬০ বছর বয়স আমার, ৭/৮ বছর বয়স থেকে শুনছি। তখন বুড়ো মা ডেকে নিয়ে শুনাতেন। কেন জানি না ঐ বয়সেই কীর্তন বড় ভাল লাগতো। আজো অর্থাৎ এখনো শুনছি। গোবিন্দ চরনে প্রার্থনা, প্রভুর নাম-কীর্তন শুনতে শুনতে যেন এ দেহ ত্যাগ হয়। সকল বৈষ্ণব, গুরু ও গোবিন্দ চরনে আমার ভক্তি বিনম্র প্রনাম। জয় রাধামাধব, জয় গোবিন্দ, জয় গোপাল।

ওরা বেসুরে কীর্তন গায় , তাই। ওদের গায়নের সঙ্গে আচার্যদের গায়নের কোন মিল নেই।

Because this type of kirtan needs a soul to pour.. both for the singer and the listener, quality of bhav should matter.. this is just not a medium of ruthless dancing.. and if we talk of ISKCON, they have their own version of kirtan which only they promote.. even they try to project it as the original.. and as always, pseudo-intellectual bengalis love to downplay what they are not able to digest..

I am sorry if my earlier comment is rude. But I had the fortune of live listening to Chhabi Bandyopadhya, multiple times. Also I had spent a good amount of time in Vrindavan, Radhakund and Nabadwip, listening to old stalwarts, even sometimes sitting in their lap - when I was a kid.. Those environments are beyond the depiction capability of my vocabulary. They use to create heaven while singing - with their poise, control of ornamentaion, and art of putting Akharas... I feel ashamed to say that this purity doesn't exist today

You are absolutely right. Pure bhava comes from pure bhakti and pure bhakti wishes to see one's eshta in all forms of divinity. It is beyond cheapish and superficial thoughts of superiority and subordinate. To a pure Krishna bhakta, Shiva bhakta or Kali bhakta, one who is Krishna is Kali and one who is narayana is Shiva himself rest all are useless and worthless Panditya. These so called vaishnavas of ISKCON waste their time in the useless and worthless Panditya keeping aside pure bhav bhakti even though they boast of premabhakti. Hence one finds it difficult to get any bhava in their kirtans.
