I’ve got to tell you that sometimes I feel really sorry for Mahidevran. But then, I remember all the things she did to Hurrem in the early days and the horrible looks she gave her, the plotting, (sometimes murderous plots), and scheming against Hurrem and her family. The political system at the time, and the use of women as slave vessels just to produce heirs, (which they then killed off after putting all this effort into educating and preparing sons for the head of the dynasty) created wars between women within the harem. It was a fate from which they could not escape. Still, one would think that Mahidevran would have toned down her anger and jealousy a bit for the sake of the eventual safety of her son.

Not really, as hurram didn't directly planned to kill Mostafa, where as mahidevram purposely planned murder plan for mehnat. In the entire series, hurram never initiated any mess, she only backfired and later she understood how to vanish her enemy before they hit on her , quite smart, soft n cruel for her enemies. she was the only Hurram sultana.

I agree Mustafa was part good but I feel he deserved the fate he got 1. He always tried to break rules-hiding his pregnant concubine, leaving his sanjak, marrying Mihirunisa, visiting Jannisaries & rewarding them w/o Sultans knowledge 2. He was partner in crime of traitors who tried to start rebellion multiple times to enthrone Mustafa. He hid about them although he should have informed sultan jus because he wanted to use their power for the fight of throne. No other prince did that or tired to do. 3. He blamed everything on Hurrem & ignored MahiD fault. He blamed Hurrem even on death of his unborn child & concubine(even when it was as per rules), blamed her for every small thing but never thought of blaming MahiD for mehmets death. 4. He ignored the fact that his mother & other Sultanas conspired with Hatice to abduct Hurrem. They even did black magic on her which was a serious crime. 5. He & everyone always blamed Hurrrm for Ibrahim’s death but again ignored that he tried to kill her multiple times & also hid many attempts by MahiD 6. He favoured Bayezid in all his arguments with Selim because Bayezid supported him for throne but Selim did not. This drove deep wedge b/w the two. 7. He never talked against his mother but wanted Chihangir to do so. 8. Even when Sultan got to know about secret group through his investigation, he was unhappy that the officials were banished & blamed Hurrem(again!). He knew these officials are traitors as they plan to dethrone Sultan but still forgave them as they favoured him. 9. Even MahiD always talked about enthroning him when Sultqn was sick but he still loved her & respected her. Never regarded her as cruel & cunning like Hurrem. 10. At the end his mother & wife tried to start a rebellion & dethrone Sultan, they were traitors too. PS: Hurrem also did many wrong things- black magic on Ibrahim, tried to kill Ibrahim/Mustafa. She tried to play the power game as well but it would never dream about dethroning Sultan.

There was nobody innocent there it was kill or be killed game and there was no way out because letting opposition live was disaster and civil war in waiting. Nevertheless Suleiman dont executed Mustafa just because he was relatively popular and main successor to the throne, there was something going on for long time also last drop that leaded directly to execution was Mustafa assembling army which was great taboo and perceived as direct threat to empire and Sultan, why would you raised army unless you want to to start rebellion?

I think you are wrong. Mustafa was no ordinary man. He Nas eldest living son of the reigning sovereign. Because he is a sultan before being a father. Mustafa didn't remember that and always crossed the boundary not taking a look at history of sultans who took the throne by killing their brothers and even fathers/grandfathers. A prince could easily rebel if he had enough love and support for commoners (like Mustafa for example). So he shouldn't have shown he was a threat especially when his father was still pretty strong in the throne. His brilliance as a prince, his stength and support, all the times he went against his father's will... those led to more suspicion and eventually his death.
