Mahidevran was really smart considering she made friends with Valide, Ibrahim and Hatice (not only in the series, but also in history), had spies all around the empire and tried to protect Mustafa, even asking him not to go to Sultan on their last meeting, probably knowing about Sultan's cruel plan. Also it's impressive to know that people supported her and Mustafa tremendously and called her real Valide and Sultana after Mustafa's death. The series definitely didn't do her justice. It's nice to know that Selim cared for Mustafa's commemoration and for Mahidevran's well-being. Probably Mustafa should have been more careful and discreet, but there's no doubt he would be a great sultan.

According to the history Mustafa was really arrogant and somehow disrespectful to Venetian ambassadors and paşas. No doubt that mahidevran was toxic but she was a devoted mother.... As a fact she was never haseki or valide sultan because the title haseki was specially made for hürrem,and the woman who became valide sultan had her son on the throne. This is an outdated theory, Mahidevran never gave birth to Raziye Sultan because at that time there was a harem law which said the Sultan was never to sleep with the same concubine again after she gave birth son, it was called the one mother one son law. Mustafa was Mahidevran's eldest son, so it couldn't have been possible for Raziye to be her daughter. Raziye was most likely the daughter of a concubine, and Raziye died from a plague in 1521, along with her half brother Prince Mahmud who was also the son of another unknown concubine.

She is also the one true valide sultan because şehzade mustafa was supposed to be sultan after sulieman even sulieman knew and accepted this when he told mehmet about the fraticide law (that when mustafa becomes sultan it is acceptable by law for him to order the killing of all his brothers for the sake of his throne), therefore mahidevran sultan would have been the new valide sultan. Mahidevran sultan would have made an exceptional valide sultan as she was not cruel like hurrem. It is because of mahidevran sultan s parental skills and advice that şehzade mustafa was the strongest candidate for the throne and i believe that if he did rebellion against sulieman, he would have definitely won and sulieman would have been removed as sultan and mustafa would have taken the throne.
