Good Video, Would suggest when demoing the Shuttle tractor to completely remove your foot from the clutch pedal. It does not take much force when riding a clutch to burn it out. I see this a lot in my field of work. Thanks!

Very informative. I own an old gear driven tractor that is rated at 25 HP. A friend owns a bigger heavier 30 HP Hydro tractor. His machine wines and quits trying while mine will bury itself trying to do the job. We haven't directly compared but I think my tractor is capable of far more work than his.

i like the video thanks jeff . i was really trying to find the info you mentioned about hydrostats wearing out over time compared to gears. big help in my purchasing decision. Being as i live way the hell up north in Saskatchewan a cab is pretty essential, wehat do you think of the cab quality on mahindra as well as the heater and a/c thx cheers
@goldencircleimplementcente43957 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your questions and for watching our videos. it is unlikely that you will find any information about the erosion of power that you experience with hydro tractors as they age, as manufacturers would not like to share that information. Remember as you consider that this erosion does not necessarily affect the performance of the tractor, but it is noticeable and therefore is a consideration that we like to make our customers aware of. As far as the cab quality, Mahindra's cab quality is certainly as good as anybody else, and the heater in our 2538 cab will run you out, even on a cold day. The a/c is the same way, even in the summer. Again, thanks for watching our videos.

Have they changed the pedal design on the hydrostatic models on 2018 models? I think I saw a video that they did and they may have changed the seat and put arm rest on them I’m not sure can you answer these two questions

Hey guys, really cool video, thank you. On the shuttle shift, do you select gears standing still? What if you decide you need to go faster? Stop, select & go? Or like a car on the move? Thx in advance.
@goldencircleimplementcente43955 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our videos and for your comment. When you want to change gears (like 1st gear to 2nd), it can be done "on the fly" (on the move) without too much trouble (just don't shift too fast, as you could jam the tractor into 2 gears at once). Just clutch, shift, and go! But when shifting from low to Medium or High, you need to clutch, stop, shift, then go.

Just bought a hydro, my only complaint is the rocker set up they use. My foot is a 12 so there is very little room for your foot between directional pedals. You should not operate the tractor, like he shows his foot in the video, heel on reverse and toe on fwd, because this is dangerous because the foot placement is not stable during travel. Also you have to lift foot, knee and thigh to reverse. This may not seem like much but after hours of operation the right leg feels the stress. It is easier to lift half the foot to shift side to side(fwd or reverse). JD, LS and New Holland use the side by side setup but they are inferior in performance and or price value. One more thing; the LS (which makes or made McCormick, Montana, Farm Trac, and Taft) had the best pedal performance, as soon as you let off either drive pedals the tires stopped turning like full brake even to the point of skidding and stayed put even on grades. The rocker set ups seem to roll ever so slightly initially.Who knows how the rolling will be as hours and wear build up?
@MacedonianAlmonds8 жыл бұрын
+doug pitt Couldn't agree more about the leg and knee stress after a long time operation and long journey stepping on gas pedal. Because of this I adore the hand throttle not only on tractor but also in my car cruise control (tempomat). I am talking about the regular gear system, I haven't drive the hydro gear yet.
@TheVenom83435 жыл бұрын
Doug, I tested out that exact setup when I bought my Mahindra. I absolutely hated that pedal setup!!! But I got on the Mahindra 2538 HST and it has the pedals side by side and that's the one I bought and I'm still pushing shit with her today.

Looking into buying a compact tractor soon.Will be mowing about 3 acres.Thinking of buying something in the 25 to 30 hp,of course i will need a bucket for some work.My question is a mid mount or rear mounted mower?I have a riding mower now and think a mid mount would be the same.Everyone says the rear mounted mowers are much better.If i am only going to use the bucket 2 or 3 times a year and the mower once a week,wouldnt a mid mount be ideal.Love these mahindras.
@goldencircleimplementcente43959 жыл бұрын
lonecedarfarm Thank you for watching our videos! A Mid mower is cumbersome for anything except mowing. But if that is your main job that you will be doing with the tractor, then perhaps you can justify the few times of inconvenience. Thank you.

I've been told it is best to keep your engine RPM up when using a hydrostatic transmission. Wondering what your opinion on this is?
@goldencircleimplementcente43958 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our videos. We own a hydro tractor and use it at our house. It goes faster, and has more pushing/pulling power, the higher the RPM.

As long as the clutch pedal is not "slipped" often, will the shuttle transmission be as reliable as the hydro trans in the long run?
@goldencircleimplementcente43956 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching our videos and for your question. The shuttle transmissions have proven to be very reliable over time. You are correct in saying that the clutch pesal should not be "slipped" because we have see instances where people who "slipped" the clutch too much, and ultimately compromised the clutch itself. Altogether, the shuttle transmissions have been very reliable. Again, thanks for watching our videos and for your comment.

Any recommendations on transmission fluid for the Hydro if the Mahindra branded fluid is hard to come by? The Tractor Supply "Traveller Universal Tractor Trans Fluid" has "Mahindra" on the list on the back. Any thoughts on what will and what wont work well?
@goldencircleimplementcente43959 жыл бұрын
Most universal hydraulic fluids are serviceable in a Mahindra tractor. However remember you always get what you pay for. The better fluids such as those sold by JD CIH and CAT are more expensive but they tend to have far superior water handling properties. The cheaper fluids like the ones sold at Napa and TSC tend to not do well when water inters the system. The most important aspect of this question revolves around the 5 year powertrain warranty. If your tractor is still within that time frame and develops a transmission problem, if the oil sample shows other than Mahindra, you have just given them an excuse to not cover expenses. I am not saying this will happen, I am just saying it could happen. Therefore chose your oils wisely.
@rickk100009 жыл бұрын
Golden Circle Implement Center There are other fluids mentioned in the owners manual but I spent several hours looking for any of them locally with little luck. Walmart, autozone, pep boys, NAPA all failed me. Online I noticed that most of the people who have found the alternatives live in Canada. I guess I need to make the 80 mile round trip to my dealer this weekend.

ebay is your friend, many tractor dealers have parts & fluids for sale on the site. it will cost you a little in shipping however you are not buying tractor fluids every other week.

On the hydrostatic drive tractor how can you use the individual brake pedals when they are directly in front of the hydro treadle pedal? It looks impossible to do!
@goldencircleimplementcente43957 жыл бұрын
alphaone101 thank you for your question and for watching our videos. That is a good question. While most of our older tractors have brake pedals beyond the hydrostatic pedals, most of our newer models, the brake pedals have been moved to the left side. On models that still have pedals on the right, they have raised the pedals up to give more clearance.
@TheVenom83435 жыл бұрын
@@goldencircleimplementcente4395 Yeah, that pedal setup was VERY stupid. I tested one out for about 2 minutes then I got on the 2538 HST and bought it within 2 minutes and I'm still pushing shit with her today. I love that tractor!!

What do you mean by "we see erosion in all hydrostatic brands" and how much does it typically cost to get it repaired/rebuilt or whatever you mean? Thanks. I'm trying to decide which to buy.
@goldencircleimplementcente43958 жыл бұрын
+jdh023 Thank you for watching our videos, and thanks for your question. As the hydrostatic unit ages the pushing power erodes slightly with age. It is not that the units no longer function it is rather a perceivable decay where it once would spin all four tires and after 10 years it may not. It is not feasible to replace the units as they run in the thousands of dollars. Hope that helps
@xcrow07 жыл бұрын
+Golden Circle Implement Center I guess that answers my question, I need something that will last and perform longer than 10 years. Guess it's a shuttle drive for me. I'll deal with the inconvenience while mowing with a shuttle drive as my tractors main function will be mowing (belly mower) then bush hogging. Good video, good info.
@jimbuford41477 жыл бұрын
Of course, wouldn't it depend somewhat on how much the tractor is used. I have a Boomer 35 hydro and use it about 80 hours a year so would think the power erosion would be less than if I used 200 hours each year.
@patrickevans8017 жыл бұрын
yes you are correct, the trans will last longer if you use it less per year.
@Grumpy_old_Boot7 жыл бұрын
The reason why hydro transmissions degrade, is simple wear and tear. Basically, the hydraulic motor and pump starts to wear and have less effective seals, and it becomes harder and harder to build up high pressure, which is what pushes the tractor. Think of it like with a bicycle pump, where the more air that's in the tire, the more air escapes around the valve when you compress the pump, because of the higher pressure. As long as the pressure is low, no problem. Once the pressure is high, you get "leaks" internally. And thus it won't push as hard as it did when everything fit well together.

I have a question, does a gear tractor automatically stop on grades when the clutch is pushed in, or does it roll until the manual brakes are pressed? I have hillside property and have always had a hydrostatic transmission tractor. I do like the fact once the pedal is released that the machine stops automatically.
@goldencircleimplementcente43955 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching our videos and for your comment. When you press the clutch pedal on a shuttle-shift tractor, if on flat ground, the tractor will roll to a stop. But if the tractor is on an incline, it will roll down (either forwards or backwards, whichever way it's sloped). When you press the clutch in a shuttle tractor, you are disconnecting the back wheels (and the front ones if the 4wd is engaged) from the power moving them, so they just roll freely until you re-engage the clutch. I hope this answered your question, if you have any more, call us at 888-559-0586. Again, thanks for watching our videos and for your comment.

It is almost painful to see the tractor dealers trying to push the foot clutch manual transmission (albeit with "Shuttle shift" lever for forward/reverse) versus the vastly superior Hydrostatic Transmission (for overall operating Speed, Ease, Trouble-free, etc.). I absolutely Love my Mahindra 1526 HST, so far providing me over 140 hours of reliability, power, traction, safety, amazing Results, low operating costs and FUN!! Please take the time to test drive the different models before pulling the trigger!! For me, the legroom issue on other model tractors became clear after a test sit/drive!
