I will back you Roothy. I actually worked for Mahindra AG where I sold Tractors, XTV's and Cars/Pikups and had a pik-up as my company vehicle. I spent less on diesel than when I had a Colorado not only that the places I took the pik-up, the Colorado struggled. Which I think weight had a huge factor the pik-up is lighter and more agile. You can get lift kits and engine tunes for the pik-up which the only things out of the upgrades available I had done were a lift and bash plates. Mind you just for the record I had the previous model in a 5 speed 2.2mHawk T/Diesel and alloy tray. I had the current shape for a short stint but didn't get the chance to treat it like a dirty 4x4... Great review Roothy no fluffy over complicated wording to describe this ute. As you said it's a Mahindra....( It's not a compensating pretty boy ute)

I had a 2012 model and drove the arse off it for 4 years and 180000klms. Never had an issue with the motor/drivetrain/panels/chassis. In fact, standard servicing and that was it. The issues with that model were pretty well known, electronic 4wd selector exposed/front suspension mounting bad. Those issues were rectified with the next model as far as I am aware. After that I went with a triton for the auto. I would not hesitate to get a new mahindra if I was in the market. After all, we have a mahindra tractor that we've used and abused for the last 20yrs that is still going strong.

The thing is that in India reliability (meaning here- least unexpected visit's to the service center) of such cars has been such a huge factor that people won't buy the car from a trusted brand if it has issues. Price is also a huge factor, so much so that people many times just buy the car if it's a great price, for it's reliability even if it doesn't have some features they would want

Just on price alone everyone looking for a dual cab should take one for a test drive. Us aussie's have a bad habit of taking one persons advice or judgement as gospel. About time we all grew a pair, stood up and make a judgement based on our own experience by test driving the Mahindra. It is all good to listen to others but they won't be driving the vehicle so we/you need to do it yourself :) Cheers Roothy and keep the vids coming

Hi Roothy, ive followed your channel for a long time. I appreciate that your sponsoring this truck and will naturally push its good points. The big "boys toys" are a means to personal ruin thru huge debt in order to own one !!! So the Mahindra is a great option for folk who have limited financial means,or wise financially. But please tell us the truth about your trucks shortcomings, the public are not fools. We realize there will be "issues" . But then, even the KING with its 4.5litre " money pit motor" has "issues" Kind regards, and be loving to the " handbrake" Grant

In my defence I still own use and love my Engel 40litre but their bigger dual zones were pretty average so I went to Snomaster - more insulation and stronger cases, so far still really working well. And I love my old Toyotas but everything since the 105 series has left me cold - overpriced complicated and expensive to run. I live in Eastern himlayan part of India. The Mahindra Scorpio and Boleros are in great demand here. Both these vehicles beats the rugged topography added by heavy monsoon rainfall. It's a proven vehicle and great part is the parts are cheap and can be repaired anywhere out here. But cherry on top about them is that they have the greatest re-sell value. If you want to sell it off...at right price, it is guaranteed that even the oldest model will have a buyer in space of 2 or 5 days most.

Buy it! You know you want to. As a permanent part of the ongoing channel furniture. Modify it. Show us what can be done. I would like to see how you can lift it and fit 33s. Is the sixth gear overdrive or one to one? If fifth gear is the one to one running 33s shouldn’t be a problem if you are towing you can keep in 5th. I want to know all this stuff because I am just guessing. I have a Tunland at the moment and it’s a great vehicle so not afraid to go out on a limb. The tunny might become a problem if Foton pull out of Australia. I need a car with good backing in rural areas. The Mahindra Pickup looks the goods to me.

There seems to be some odd figures used re. fuel economy at 4:56 , the display shows 30 km per litre which is 3.3 litres per 100 , yet Mahindra say 9.7 litres / 100 . Next Roothy says his 76 got 8 mpg which is 35 litres/100 k , even my old 4.2 dual fuel Maverick wagon got 16 litres / 100 k with a big basket roof rack , is a 76 really that thirsty ? Mahindra 4x4s and pickups habe been very reliable beast for a good 2 decades for now. I live in the hilly region if lower Himalayan ranges called Shivaliks, where metaled roads aren't that prevalent and most of the roads are mere dirt trials with sharp stones and steep inclines and bands. These vehicles thrive without much (proper) servicing for years.
