I've been an active unit standards qualified advanced 4x4 operator, facilitator and trainer in the 4x4 comunity for most of my life. I've owned and been exposed to most of the 4x4 vehicles in South Africa from Mercedes Unimogs to jeep cj2a's. The Mahindra PikUp s6 Karoo 4x4 double cab we have owned now for last 6 months has to be the most pleasantly surprising all round motor vehicle I've come across so far. I work extensively in rural areas and spend as much time as I can with my fellow Bush junkie wife in the back country from alpine terrain in the Drakensberg Mountains to remote Bush tracks and game reserves. I'm confident this vehicle will deliver the goods with no fuss. Wel done Mahindra!

One area Indians have always trailed behind anyone else is marketing: for instance M&M somehow isolated Queensland as a separate country whilst promoting M&M. Any other developer such as the Chinese brand, will target the whole country and build up network first. This is perhaps why India inspite of being the most civilised country in the world once (when the rest of the world were still learning the basics) is now in the bottom rung of the ladder copying the West instead of leading from the front. In India especially regional areas, vehicles have to be built like a tank to withstand roads that are akin to the outback and glasshouse mountain tracks plus capable of being fixed with wire, ropes, rods etc to keep them mobile. So I can assure anyone buying a Mahindra, structural integrity would be better than many expensive brands. There might be small niggly and irritating issues with hoses, pipes etc though.

OFFTOPIC WARNING: Reason we are copying Western countries is because we have been fighting a war to preserve our culture for over a 1000 years and at this point, we've lost most of that culture, the rest is outdated as it couldn't grow properly for the past 1000 years. Our civilization is scarred. It will take a lot of effort to rediscover and bring up to speed our old civilization. Its easier to just give up on it and lap up the Western culture, especially because the isolation afforded by a language barrier is now gone in India (contrast that with how Japan and China manage to retain their identities due to the language barrier). . Moreover, our civilization is still under attack and most don't realize it. Look at how our own government and constitution subvert our own civilization. I am surprised we are still around after all this. I think if we don't change our ways, our civilization will die just like the South Korean one within the next 150 years.

@@death_parade Well, we can atleast save a bit of our original culture if anime or other Japanese content gets popular here. It hurts to see how much we are enslaved by the west. But even the Japanese are now adopting western culture and leaving their own, bit by bit. Actually Indian Vehicles are more cheaper, reliable and durable than Japanese / Korean Vehicles. But Japanese and Korean Manufacturers give better After sales service at their dealerships. Problem with Indian vehicles is that a lot of poor people especially those in transport sector buy these vehicles and dealerships can be heavily crowded with Taxi drivers / pick-up truck drivers and you will find yourself one amongst them. Most educated people in India don't want to be counted amongst Taxi and Truck Drivers. So again sales of the Indian vehicle suffers. Japanese and Korean cars are overpriced and private Dealers treat their customers better as they have brought **EXPENSIVE** vehicles.

Looks like a pretty solid alternative proposition to the mainstream 4WD utes. However, my concern would be the national dealer service support network and availability of parts. Busted a couple of wheel studs once years ago and managed to limp into Laverton WA. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Went to the one mechanic shop in town and asked if they had any wheel studs for a 75 series Landcruiser Troopy. Bloke looked at me and asked how many I needed and that was that. He even put them on for me. If Mahindra has the same ease of getting parts when things go wrong (and they usually do at the worst time), yes definitely I would consider getting one.

@@stuartstibbs2069 yaa this is possible not advertisement no awareness and dominance of pre established companies are the main reasons of it. U will surely stunned after hearing that in India Mitsubishi and isuzu both are available with their operational manufacturing plant but you will rarely see their any vehicles on the road I have seen isuzu d max , mahindra thar ,mahindra scorpio, fortuner, Everest, and pajero are on off road on a indian you tube channel every month the no. Of vehicle sold by mahindra is more then to total sell of Volkswagen nissan Toyota Mitsubishi and isuzu people are buying after getting it comparable with any other company's huge no of these vehicles are used by government officials along with Toyota (not nissan Volkswagen and any foreign car )
