Pratap Bose and his team have pulled off a master stroke with the Thar.e. Sure, as some of you have pointed out, there’s a bit of Bronco here and Defender there but remember this will come at a Thar price and as a whole this has an identity all of its own The detailing 👉 the LED lights, front & rear, left & right, is that one same unit. The bumper is common front and back. There’s a hint of exposed door hinges as a nod to the heritage, so too the bonnet clasps though now that a frunk (a big frunk!). The mesh panel on C-pillar is functional - can hold 45kg luggage boxes (like Defender, yes, but at a Thar price so you won’t find me complaining). Plastic panels are unpainted so no worries of scratches while off-roading. Recycled materials are used. There’s a focus on reducing waste and being environmentally conscious. And they say all the innovations you see here will also filter down to the ICE SUVs because they’re not giving up on that, not even close. As an enthusiast - an 🇮🇳 enthusiast - I’m filled with nothing but pride and hope for an even more exciting automotive future, one in which our own Indian manufacturers will be at the fore front of thought, innovation, safety, design, the works What are your thoughts?

I don’t think so it is copy of any brand, some elements like wheel arches, modern mesh design to plug any accessories are in my opinion very distinctive and clever. Design decisions like having minimal flushed design with modern iterations of retro parts are unique to itself. Very well designed product!

I always thought ICE thar could have been a great EV...but, this is a complete design change and clearly they went in the Hummer EV direction....i understand it's a concept and production would be a lot simpler than this. But this in its current form looks to me overdone. The ICE thar has this simple yet elegant design language..

Good. Great. Very futuristic. But Mahindra should make themselves capable to deliver as well. They create hype and grab lot of bookings and keep the Customers waiting for months to deliver their dreams. By the time they start delivering, the enthusiasm flattens. Then Mahindra needs another gimmick. Nice strategy to keep Investors & auto enthuciasts busy but at times think of Customers as well. Gone are the age of those passionate enthuciasts who dream to own a cult. Use it, maintain it and proudly own it. Now its more about Lifestyle. And 'lifestylers' find options easily.

Was the initial probe on inspiration a feeble attempt to get them to say that we looked at a certain SUV that starts with defend and ends with der and the made a few tweaks just like we did with the ICE wrangler thar??
