My father bought the Mahindra Armada in 1999. It featured a 4 speed manual gearbox and that suv refused to die. We clocked 165000 km before parting ways. Broken roads/ slush / full load of 6-7 people nothing bothered it. Hopeful the new one is the same and lives up to the legendary name.

The funny thing is, Mahindra will probably be around longer in Australia selling the Thar Armada, than Jeep themselves will be in Australia! Their sales are declining here year after year and there looks to be no fix to their situation. Positioning themselves as a premium brand, which they are not and price gauging Australian consumers with price increases, after price increases, though I did see they've reduced the price of the Grand Cherokee recently, which they've probably had to do reluctantly, hasn't helped their somewhat iffy reputation. Mahindra would be onto a good wicket if they can land the Thar 3dr and 5dr here at a competitive price point, please don't get greedy and show up the likes of the Jeep Wrangler and Suzuki Jimny. The Jimny is also overpriced for what it is and Suzuki is becoming another company that likes to price gauge Australia consumers.

you are wrong thar will get 2 engines first one is 2.0 litre TC petrol which produces 200hp and 380 nm of torque derived from xuv 700 and the second one is 2.2 litre TC diesel which produces 175hp and 450 nm of torque>>>>

Actually, Mahindra bought Pininfarina a decade ago, so changing its design shouldn't be a big deal. The car engines are reliable, with just some minor electronic issues, which is common across almost all brands.

@@wax333 Yes they are working on it! For your kind information scorpio has scored 5stars in global ncap. Just because not having ADAS level 2 makes it an unsafe car. You should read the ancap reports in which they have also said that scorpio is a heavy built car and if the collision happens between scorpio and another car, the other car will get more damages. And i guarantee you that if scorpio gets ADAS level 2 in its facelift version it will score 3-4 stars safety ratings in ancap.

I would be interested in the 3 door. Is that coming? As I would use it as a daily driver I would opt for the petrol model and take advantage of the cheap day, weekly petrol cycle. As I personally would like plain dials for my speedo , etc and ditch the screens. I wouldn't need all round cameras either, especially on a 4x4 I will be driving in the bush, but thats me. Keep it as simple as possible with high tech engine, yeah I'd be in. Just have a look at what Royal Enfield have done with motor cycles. Cheap, reliable and improving with every model. The indians and Chinese are improving leaps and bounds at a price people are willing to pay.

So here is my story my grand after bought a mahindra armada in 2002 and it have done 28,000,00 in disel he was a driver and used to drive it in the firest villages in india just think this veiche have done 70% of it's life on bare grounds not any aspalt road and it's running fine until now be it sludge,water,rocks uneven roads it never stopped no servicing no problem it will run just with fuel and only want oil change it's definitely a great vehicle

Mahindra suvs are good but recently many cases came forward that mahindra suvs are creating fire and leakage issues and the dealers are blaming the customer and no proper servicing ...even a recent case of fire ... acustomer bought mahindra thar suv and and drive just 250 km and it caught fire but refused to give any insurance or service frm Mahindra telling that they instal a rear cam that voilate warranty ..even if it was bought frm Mahindra's own dealership . now customer is paying monthly emi but dont have any vehicle it burnt out .....these type of many cases are reporting and even if it comes in social media it was deleted by mahindra delaers .... first look around the drawbacks and negative reviews and cases then goes to positive .both are very important tomorrow this may happen to you also
