Mahindra XUV500 Poor Acceleration Problem | XUV 500 Clutch & Brake Overhaul |Genuine Spares |MotoFyx

We had this 2013 Mahindra XUV500 Car, having completed an overall driving mileage of 300k kilometers, visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop for an annual service along with a concern relating that the clutch pedal at times would sinks onto the floor while driving. The gear liver and clutch pedal would vibrate severely thereby resulting in difficulty shifting gears. The abnormal clutch behaviour made it increasing difficult to drive the car and as the annual service of the car was also overdue, the car owner reached out to us for immediate assistance.
Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, it was observed that the clutch is weak .further dismantling the gearbox, both the clutch set and flywheel were observed to have been severely burnt resulting in excess juddering thereby leading to an ineffective clutch.
*What is the role of flywheel in a car?
The flywheel has three main functions. First to maintain inertia in order to assist the engine rotation and provide
more torque while running. Second, to provide a ring gear for the starter motor to engage. Third, to provide driving friction surface for the friction disc
*Symptoms of a faulty flywheel:
Gear slipping
Clutch chatter
Clutch pedal vibration & drag
Burning smell
*Why is flywheel skimming suggested over replacement?
Flywheel skimming causes the surface to be smooth
and suitable to engage with clutch plate and transmit
torque.
Replacement of flywheel costs 5 times the cost of skimming, and since skimming is a completely cost effective and efficient method, a skimming of the flywheel is always suggested wherever possible over replacement
*Solution:
Gearbox was dismantled
The worn out clutch set, flywheel and cylinders were all replaced with new parts
New transmission oil was filled and annual service was performed
